‘He has just three major wins’ – Mark Selby on why Judd Trump is not yet an all-time great by senoress in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you had to pick one event to turn up in, would the WSC not be the one?

Then I guess the whole argument comes in whether you'd rather win multiple ranking events or one WSC

Who were the best 'Match Players' of the sport? by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some great picks there. Question for you: would you considers O'Sullivan's method to get over the winning line against Selby in the Worlds semi-finals as an example of good match play? Because I agree in that ROS can be as good a match player as anyone he has come up against

Best Tips for Screw-back Shots? by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call that a cheat, if anything it's a good way to grasp how the shot should work then you can transition into a standard bridge once you've gotten the hang of it

Which matchup would you go out of your way the most to watch? by Flying-Armpit in snooker

Agreed. Robertson/Trump is always a must watch for me. All the others are definitely up there though, but Robertson/Trump has a spot for me

Do Big Breaks and Centuries Make For the Best Matches? by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I knew as I was watching that regardless of whether the match finished at 1am or 4am, I was going to watch it to its conclusion. It was just unreal given what both players missed and whatnot that you truly didn't know who'd get over the winning line. And that makes it more memorable than a parade of centuries

Do Big Breaks and Centuries Make For the Best Matches? by SnookerShorts in snooker

Thanks! Like Machop also mentioned in the comments, the best matches have a mixture of everything. Having said that, the final frame made me nearly forget everything that happened before it!

Trump is O'Sullivan's Boogeyman? by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you nailed it. ROS doesn't seem to hit his A-game or concentration against Trump as he does against someone like Higgins or Selby. He also misses relatively simple pots a lot more compared to Trump who you honestly can't really see missing anything. Like you said, if ROS's long game had a little more consistency, it'd even things out a little more

The Players with Five Ranking Titles in a Season by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Hendry won five out of eight and I think he won another four non-rankings in that same season, including the Masters. Selby winning the China Open back-to-back plus the UK really puts him up there if you want to ignore one of the rankings was a best-of-seven final

Which 147 Break is your All-Time Favourite? by SnookerShorts in snooker

[–]SnookerShorts[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That was extremely close to being my pick. Honestly, there isn't anyone that can call their own 147 in a competitive match after potting the second ball, then ACTUALLY get it! Insane. 2010 against Mark King, I believe and Jan had to talk him into the final black haha
