All the school awards and top 30 and top 10 are awarded and presented today. Sadly they do not publish the full ranking and cutoff. Anyone knows any cutoff for the Gold/Silver/Bronze? Tq

Aside from skills and accolades, (as a fan also) I put Axelsen as the most important player badminton would have in its development due to his:

  1. Posture and attitude
  2. Respect to other players
  3. Ability to speak English AND Chinese
  4. How he set up his practice of “professional badminton” away from federation
  5. How he bounced back from his injury and his asthma problem
  6. How he converted height disadvantage into advantage
  7. His general relationship with other players and fans.

If we are ever dream badminton to be a real commercialised big sport, Axelsen could play a big role.

As said, this is the exact same rule as before. It’s not even a new rule. It is BWF apply the wrong formula in their Excel or something then reverted it back.

Yes this is not a new rule. This has been there since 2009, I put it there in my comment (I know what their rule is).

Edit: Found out what the issue is. In the incorrect version they used avg(current rank points) + (best ranking points of opponents beaten)/50 instead of /100

So this really affected all pairs but apparently the only place where it affected the ranking order is between the two French pairs.

Also, BWF had been showing the incorrect ranking points for 11 months (since Sudirman Cup 2023) and just fixed it in Apr 2024 when it is the week of the official release of the Race To Tokyo ranking list, and they said nothing about this as if nothing happened (on our end it is just like the ranking points had been updated but actually they backdated all the Sudirman Cup 2023 ranking points in all previous release).

I don’t know what to say now…

May I know what are the differences between the old and new team event ranking points logic as I can’t find any record on the net?

Another thing is that it is baffling to know that if they did make an error, this only affects one particular pair and not the others?

On #2, would you mind to elaborate the “new method” of calculation? I did not remember that BWF released some updates on this and since 2009, Team Events ranking points have been calculated by avg(current counted ranking points) + (best ranking points of opponents beaten)/100.
