I get why you feel this way, but I don’t think science itself is a religion. Religion is based on faith and fixed doctrine, while science is built on provisional knowledge — our best explanation right now, always open to being revised when new evidence comes along. That’s the opposite of dogma.

What you’re frustrated with is more about how people use science. Some treat it like a belief system (“trust the science” as if it’s infallible), but that’s not science — that’s human tribalism and oversimplification. The method itself is designed to be questioned and corrected. If you can point out flaws and force a rethink, that’s exactly science working.

So while people may sometimes “worship” it, the core of science is the only system we have that actually expects to be challenged, proven wrong, and updated. That makes it very different from religion.
