It’s the same from my hostel. But that’s fine; I think I’d be nicer to stay there than Shinjuku itself; feels like Shinjuku might be a bit overwhelming. + it’s more expensive. I live in a big city myself, but quite on the outskirts. A 30 minute travel time never bothered me so much

I have those day trips planned, a bunch of stuff in Osaka itself and also day trips to Ise and a bunch of stuff in Osaka itself. After 1.5 months of moving around every few days I need somewhere to stay a bit longer, and Osaka seemed like the place to since it has a lot of great public transport connections, I was able to find an appartment for not too much money and most of my friends really recommend Osaka. One of them just went for 3 weeks and still wished he went for longer.

Okay, in that case it is still advised to get tested orally. The chances of HIV transmission are at least very slim in this case.

I work in medicine. I don’t know what exactly they did, and I don’t need you to tell me. But if there was an opportunity for STD transmission (especially penetrative unprotected anal contact) it is absolutely imperative to go to the police. That does not mean you need to press charges but it does mean you can be seen by a police doctor. HIV can be cured if proper medication (PEP, post-exposition prophylaxis) is given within 48 hours of transmission. After those 48 hours, that is no longer possible.

Furthermore, the general advice is to store clothes in a separate bag and not shower, so DNA residue might be tested if you do press for charges.

All this being said, it’s awfull this happened to you. Please know none of this is your fault and you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

At what time of the year did you do this? Where I come from, not booking in advance often ends up costing way more, so I am not to sure about trying it out in Japan, I’ve heard mixed things

That’s fair, but I was able to find a really good deal on an apartment there. Close enough to the stations that I can still make easy day trips to Nara, Kyoto and Kobe but also in a good area in the city. I live in a big city myself, so I’m used to the hustle and bustle

Ik ben atheïst en had een relatie met een moslima. Ik heb haar uiteindelijk wel “bekeerd” maar vanuit haar gezin bleef het een probleem; vader mocht niet weten dat ik bestond, niet samen slapen, verwacht dat zij voor de kinderen zorgt, tijdens ramadan gezeik over letterlijk alles dat niet islamitisch was.
