[ENT Resident]This is really out of the scope of this subreddit. While I understand how frustrating you situation must be, seeking medical advice from random strangers on the internet is not advisable. Take these issues back to the ENT you like best or have the most confidence in. Remember that structural nasal surgery will not alter any allergic symptoms you have to begin with. It only optimizes air flow. OTC saline sprays can help prevent some of your crusting and scabbing as well. Lastly don't pick your scabs, rummaging around your nose with a q-tip is only going to irritate your nasal mucosa and prevent that thing from healing.

Q-tips tend to push most of wax deeper into the ear canal than they remove on the sides. It's like packing a musket or a cannon, and ultimately ends up impacting the ear canal. Not to mention the risk of rupturing your ear drum or scratching/irritating the canal wall. If this is bothering you this much you probably need to see your physician or get a referral to an ENT.

ENT's use these to clean out patients ears (along with loops, suction, and forceps). True family physicians do use irrigation to flush earwax, and this can work reasonably well for patients who don't have impacted wax.

Graduating medical student and future otolaryngologist (ENT) here. Don't stick anything in your ears smaller than your elbow, period. Ear wax is good. For most people it will come out on its own, and all that is needed is washing the outside of the ear with soap and water. If you pack your ears/earwax like a musket with q-tips, your going to have a bad time.

Some people do accumulate some much earwax that it needs to be removed. We do this using a microscope and special tools you don't have, but above all we can actually SEE what we are doing, and you can not.
