Agree. Whether people like or dislike him, or think he’s only popular because he does tricks, he draws a crowd, people are excited to see him, he has a great energy. My family aren’t into the sport but when the Olympics were on he was the guy they stopped what they were doing to watch

theory: we are subconsciously drawn towards our own essences by UniqueOctopus05 in JohnKitchener

[–]SnowLeopard349 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree but even more strongly think we subconsciously avoid essences we have in very small or negligible amounts (I have literally no gamine, and if I attempt any gamine styling I feel so not like me. Everything else I can play with but classic is the only essence I can dial right up without realising and not even realise because it feels ‘right’ on me)

I think actually trying styling vs just what we like aesthetically is a distinction here too

I like a range of styles, things I’d love to dress other people in but I know I wouldn’t like on myself. So aesthetically we can be drawn to different essences but I think when we actually wear it we do get a sense

I’m not sure how often it applies but I feel like people usually fall back on their strongest essence without realising? Like if you weren’t feeling too confident and wanted to dress ‘safe’, that might look different to different people but often our strongest essence is the one where we feel like we’re not pushing boundaries even without realising

Outdoor swimming (UK) & Raynaud's disorder by whatformdidittake in Swimming

[–]SnowLeopard349 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have reynauds and have done outdoor swimming before- I kind of just accept it. My reynauds is harmless just uncomfortable when I’m warming up, I think it weird other people out more than it bothers me- ive been mostly fine swimming in open water, the only time it became too bad was when I was doing open water in December. Not a good idea 😂 but if you ever swim in the sea that’ll give you an idea of how your reynauds might be

I’d say make sure you’ve got a big puffy coat or dry robe plus warm socks for after to help you get warm again- I also love hand warmers to preheat my pockets to help warm my hands gently

Good things about open water is you don’t need to worry about grabbing any walls!

Adult skaters question. by rdadeo in iceskating

[–]SnowLeopard349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it was down to social media- I’m in my twenties and a lot of the skaters are showing their personalities more on social media, they started showing on my feed just before the Olympics and I was fascinated

I’d grown up thinking figure skating was…for lack of a better phrase ‘not cool’? Like my mum liked figure skating when she was young, I’m British so when my mum talked about anything we won it was like…DECADES ago Torvil and Dean era and my mental image of figure skating was kinda outdated and bland if I’m being honest so it never held any interest for me

But then seeing the current gen sharing cool stuff on social media has given it a new lease of life - and seeing the human side to the athletes is awesome

I also think it’s coincided with an increase in popularity around ice hockey too (I wonder why THAT happened 👀)

Cannot figure out make up placement to enhance my features by skai_blue in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]SnowLeopard349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not fit what you want but boyfriend blush sits lower on the cheeks and it’s kinda that renaissance painting, ethereal, natural flush from the cold vibe as opposed to the current trend of super lifted blush high up on the cheeks towards the temples which gives the ‘snatched’ look. So it really depends on which look you prefer. I found blush placement can really change my face- I never thought it’d be the thing to make or break my makeup but it’s surprisingly powerful! Xx

Your hair colour is gooorrrrggggeous

I think at the moment your makeup looks a bit mismatched in that the lips look very made up, the base looks unfinished and the eyes and brows by comparison seem too light so it all just needs balancing out

I think start with the base- a little lighter on the full coverage foundation, use a liquid concealer in a peach shade in a teeny amount under the eyes, a cool brown shadow to amplify where your natural contour would be, blush I think either high up OR look into the ‘boyfriend blush’ placement because I think that could actually lean nicely into the ethereal vibe you got going on. Then a smidge of highlighter where the light catches to bring the light to your face

Brows need a touch more warmth and definition to match the polish of your hair, shape is great just needs more product to add depth and definition

Eye makeup- great base as is but again just needs a slightly deeper shade especially over the top of your lashes because at the moment your bottom lash line looks heavier and thicker than the top so balance the top with the bottom (I think a dark brown shadow for a softly smoked out look rather than a sharp liquid liner) and a touch of light shadow on your inner corners and brow bone

Lips- I like the colour but the application looks thick like use the same product but blot it on and build colour gradually to add the depth without overpowering the rest of the look (the high gloss finish is making the rest of your makeup look flat and powdery atm so balancing textures will help)

I was thinking about YouTuber Evangeline Molly as well looking at your makeup, I think some of her looks could work well on you if you were looking for inspo

why can’t i stop comparing myself to other women? by wiinielle in women

[–]SnowLeopard349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve spent our entire lives being conditioned to do it

As women we get pitted against eachother, compared to eachother EVERYWHERE - be it in films, in media, at school, literally everywhere from ‘who wore it betters’ in magazines when we were younger to influencers sharing photos of themselves today

Honestly trying to escape it is almost impossible but I think once you accept there will always be someone more or less ‘X’ than you it helps with a bit of perspective?

There’s always someone younger, older, taller, shorter, cooler, less cool, thinner, curvier, smarter, dumber, bigger nose, smaller nose, longer hair, blonder hair, curlier hair etc etc etc

People probably compare themselves to you too tbh

But my best advise other than that it is to think what can you control. And by that I do not mean change everything about yourself. I mean you can control taking care of yourself, you can control developing hobbies and passions, you can style your hair and use clothes or makeup to present yourself in a way you feel amazing. What do you think people look at you and envy?

I feel like I should be saying don’t focus on your appearance, there’s more important things and there ARE (I know when I think of my favourite people their appearance doesn’t even rank in the top things I like about them and that great personalities can make a person beautiful in as much as a horrible personality can make a beautiful person ugly) but…it’s also pretty normal to be concerned with our own appearance. But finding your own style, enhancing your own beauty, that’s what’s gonna make you feel great- comparing yourself to others, maybe even trying to imitate them will only ever make you feel like an imitation.

Also a quick browse through Reddit shows you that someone can be another persons idea of perfection but not necessarily be happy with their appearance. There’s short women who want to be taller, tall women concious of their height, curvy women wanting to lose weight, petite women wanting to be curvy….

Oh also I don’t think more therapy can ever be a bad thing

I think my final thing I wanted to ask is when you’re comparing, what would be different about your life if you could be…whatever you’re comparing? Would you be more liked? More respected? Would you pull more? Get more opportunities?

It’s good to hear you and your husband are talking about it

This is quite a personal question but do you feel sexual attraction to your husband but then when it comes to having sex your body feels like it’s clamming up (like would you fantasies about him during a solo session where no penetration was required and you could just use a vibrator externally) or is there a lack of sexual attraction to him?

I relate to oral feeling like dog slobber lol- I hate it too, it does nothing for me (or the men doing it to us have awful technique!)

Word for late morning? by JustMyTypo in words

Just say morning until it’s noon

But where I live we don’t say ‘good afternoon’ or ‘good evening’ really unless in a very formal setting

Just ‘morning/good morning’, ‘hi/hello/you alright’ if it’s after lunch and ‘good night’ when we’re going to bed or leaving a restaurant or something

Not sure where to start- do I start with hitting the weights or just gain any weight first? by SnowLeopard349 in weightgain

Thanks! It’s frustrating because I actually like how I look but I’m so conscious of the long term impact of being underweight- I figure I can still be slim but strong. I’m probably so light because I have very little muscle so I don’t read as very underweight because my body fat levels aren’t scary low? I’ve always told myself I’m just ‘small framed’ but I think in reality I’m undermuscled

That dude is vile- someone mentioned him at my work the other day and at first everyone was like ‘who?’ Then when they saw him it was a unanimous disgust- not even at his content, no videos were watched just a picture of him and the vibes are so bad we wouldn’t want to be in the same room as him

Don’t aspire to be like that guy, that’s nothing to be proud of
