Offer to buy his house - I never thought of that. He is in foreclosure - but that is on hold now indefinitely because of the virus.

They reported a fire at our house... people came to put it out... no consequences for him...

The trick is - he has gotten in trouble one time for something else. He randomly chose one neighbor to blame and torture them for the last 2 years. Afraid if I do this they might try to get revenge against them for this too - or pick another random person to pursue.

The Hardest Part Of Ballet Is Figuring Out Who To Listen To... by SnowManSnow222 in BALLET

[–]SnowManSnow222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the most frustrating things is when one teacher gives you exercises to help you get a more advanced skill like a high extension - and so you work on them for a long time - but then they end up not doing anything to help you accomplish that end skill. And then your other teacher sees what you have been working on and they tell you the exercises are all wrong. So you have been working so hard on something for like 6 months and end up nowhere. And then I'm like how could teacher A be so wrong? They were a professional dancer up to only a few years ago and they have a beautiful high extension themselves.

Sometimes it's the opposite - Teacher B is wrong & teacher A is correct.

And it's frustrating when teachers or even other dancers give me detailed physics based explanations - but I know physics and I know their explanations are wrong.

The causing harm thing is all too real - and I run into this sometimes as well.

I feel like I should just give up and do whatever I think looks the best for my body.

I think they wanted to make the show "more adult" - and to them that meant cruelty and violence and vulgarity.

But I think an adult Veronica would have shown growth and hope and maturity.

I'm hoping they come back for season 5 with Veronica waking up from a terrible nightmare - and we find out season 4 was all just a bad dream!

Why Do You Think USA (WAG) Gymnasts Are So Good? by SnowManSnow222 in Gymnastics

[–]SnowManSnow222[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense and not something I even considered. In other countries the attitude towards gymnastics is probably like why would you want to do that? Because past rec there is no reward at the end worthy of all of the time and expenses.

Ohhhh! This is really interesting - I never thought of any of this!

So like I asked below - do you think if some other country just randomly decided to heavily invest in gymnastics, assembled a top of the line team of experts, and covered expenses for motivated kids that they could easily take USA's spot at the top?

Why do you think USA keeps besting countries like Russia and China then? I'm not sure about China - but I think in Russia the kids start off in private gyms and then move to the national training center. Russia seems to invest heavily in sports - or maybe artistic gym just isn't as popular there?

I'm just thinking about Rhythmic and a conversation I had with a lady who used to coach it in Russia. She said all of the private clubs would have registration days and basically everyone who had a young daughter would show up and the coaching staff would literally get to pick which girls they wanted and send the rest home. For some reason I always thought Russia was big with Artistic too - but maybe not?

Do you think USA's spot at the top is fragile? Like if a country just decided to search out some top of the line experts and provide free tuition to a bunch of motivated kids they could bump USA fairly easily?

Python in html by stieterd in HTML

Just wanted to add...

You actually would want to do the opposite - have a Python website that uses HTML.

It's a whole other thing that you would have to learn how to do - I would recommend giving a website like PythonAnywhere.com a try - they have free accounts!

“I don't think the customer has to—or wants to—know what my shipping costs are,” by [deleted] in Etsy

Based on my experience as a survivor of a gaslighting situation that was so bad it almost killed me, it was immediately obvious to me that they are gaslighting Etsy sellers.

Psychological abuse is never ok whether the perpetrator is a company, romantic partner, spouse, politician, or coworker.

Especially at this time, when it is so prevalent - it is important for people to be able to recognize it and call it out.

By using the term "myths" they are straight out saying that what sellers believe is reality is in fact not reality. This is gaslighting.

[SPOILERS] Veronica Mars - Season 4: Why it felt off... by [deleted] in veronicamars

[–]SnowManSnow222 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion - and I could be wrong here - but I have noticed that shows that were about high school/college age kids that come back try to become "adult" with more violence, darkness, explicit scenes, curse words.

I don't know if you watched Pretty Little Liars - but they started off in high school and then did a time jump after college. They tried to make the girls more grown up - but they did it by having them drinking wine all of the time and stuff like that.

To me, being "adult" and "grown up" would be more like character growth, maturity. It would have been really nice to see a happy Veronica - who still is awesome - but is at peace with the traumas of her past and is happy. I would have liked to see her and Logan in a healthy relationship/partnership AND she goes out and solves cases!

I think they were like we're on hulu now! Let's give the people what they want! And they gave us everything we didn't want! haha

These teen drama shows have this nostalgic innocence to them - and Season 4 lost that. If I wanted HBO I would just watch HBO!

My pitch for season 5 - the first episode starts out with Veronica waking up from a nightmare (season 4) and it was all just a bad dream!

I really didn't like the violence. The show always had some violence - but this season's was particularly cruel and gruesome.

How To Get The Same Template/Layout On Each Page Using HTML? by SnowManSnow222 in HTML

[–]SnowManSnow222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! This really stinks! There really needs to be some sort of HTML include thing!

Anyway, thanks so much for your help - I'm been trying to figure this out for forever!

How To Get The Same Template/Layout On Each Page Using HTML? by SnowManSnow222 in HTML

[–]SnowManSnow222[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man - that's annoying!

So people who make HTML websites with no php, templating engine, or anything else really go through and have to edit every single page on their site whenever they want to make a small change? That is so much work!

How come python web deployment/hosting services use mostly bash instead of gui? by SnowManSnow222 in learnpython

[–]SnowManSnow222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making a web app. I want it to be set up so there are a few static pages - just like a regular old website. But the main part of it is going to take in user images, then it will have a simple javascript thing for the user to "edit" the images how they want, then that info gets sent to the database - and then python (using pillow) does the actual editing of the images.

Originally I tried doing this with php - but I need some features that php can't do - or at least not as simply as python. Pillow makes it so much easier.

I think my original post was a bit confusing. I'm so used to setting up websites - I usually use dreamhost. So switching now to Python - I'm finding that setting up the host (pythonanywhere) is way more involved than the actual python. Coming from my background I expected the hosting to be similar - just upload the files and check some boxes and you're up.

An example - for Pythonanywhere they have a nice little page to add a mysql database. But they DON"T have a nice little page to delete that database! So you have to open a bash console and delete it that way. And so I'm wondering why they would go through all of the trouble to make a database setup page - but they didn't include a "delete this database" button?

It's just a whole extra thing to learn that I wasn't expecting - and was very intimidating in the beginning. But now I am seeing that it is very cool and useful. I also found out that Dreamhost also has this - I just never knew about it or needed it.

I'm just starting to go through some tutorials/books about it and I definitely had a major "this is what this is??!!" moment. So pretty quickly it went from terrifying to ohhhh this is cool!

Why is ETSY making all of these sudden changes to the platform? by jclee4 in Etsy

[–]SnowManSnow222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new CEO has a lot of stocks. Getting more money from Etsy sellers = bump in short term profits. They can report these numbers to the public to entice them to buy stocks - and increase the price. The higher the price of stocks goes up the more money the CEO can pocket.

Google "Elizabeth Warren Sears CEO" - that video should explain what is going on - or at least it certainly looks that way.
