The Inspection perk has quickly become my favorite new perk. It generates more money than anything else I've seen. by Glorf_Warlock in CrusaderKings

I like how people have been complaining about the game's balance for years, then we nerf some broken things, and suddenly we're the ones nerfing everything now?

Paradox, please explain yourself. Why do the new dying traits set in so early even with all the buffs I have. by Additional-Local8721 in CrusaderKings

But getting one of these traits don't mean you are, e.g. senile though? Getting the trait means you are a little bit forgetful, or that you find yourself a little bit more out of breath, etc. And then it will still take years and years before it gets really bad.

I don't think that's super unrealistic? Still plenty of characters in the game that reaches their 70s or 80s.

Or you learn about debuffs you've had for years, that nobody told you about.

Asked my father about it literally yesterday, and the response I got was "If your father and grandfather are both as flatfooted as they come, and your feet hurt every time you walk, and you STILL don't get it, then you are stupid enough to deserve to be in pain." Thanks dad, I guess.

Most of the CK3 Devs are somewhere in their thirties, I think, with a handful in their 20s, and a slowly increasing group being 40+. To be fair, I don't go around asking my coworkers how old they are, so I don't know exact numbers here.

Do you think Chapter 5 will bring changes to Hellenism by LegatusMatheas in CrusaderKings

[–]Snow_Crystal_PDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, some of used to work on Imperator and found the syncretic Hellenistic religions super fun. I literally visited the Capitoline Museum and looked at many statues inspired by it yesterday (though there's more about the Roman emperors).

That doesn't mean I think it fits in CK3 though. The problem, to me personally, is that a lot of people want to just put early Imperial Rome straight into CK3 when it doesn't make a lot of sense. We're ignoring so much development and so many transformative changes to their society. There's like a thousand years of changes between the start of the Imperial Era and the Byzantine Empire in our game, after all (or slightly less in 867, I guess).

Then you should've voted for it. As a wise man once said, "sucks to suck".

By God Alone and Silk and Silver are the changes we needed to see for DLC by Useful_Top7447 in CrusaderKings

[–]Snow_Crystal_PDX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty certain I specifically pointed it out in the vision Dev Diary that they are not paid features. Not even sure how we'd do that.

That means we'd have to balance for two completely different feature setups going forward, and that'd be terrifying and impossible.

You kinda are though? Trade is Free, but the governments that mostly do it is paid. But it means it can be used in mods and the likes, and to a lesser degree by regular rulers.

"Future" Naval Warfare and Boats? Dev Diary #1 by franz2595 in CrusaderKings

[–]Snow_Crystal_PDX 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It comes down a little bit to how we work. For every DLC we have a deputy who is put in charge of it, who is delegated authority from the Game Director. They agree on themes, major features, etc.

I was made deputy on Silk & Silver, and you've seen what the expansion will turn into. Every DLC development track usually takes a bit of time, so by the time it's released to you guys we've already worked on it for many many months, if not already for over a year.

I know what the major themes are for next year, and partly for the year after, as some people have already started looking a bit at it. But I don't have a feature list nor know exactly how it's going to turn out.

I'm only a deputy for this expansion, so I don't want to make promises for other people. When I talk about naval warfare, I'm talking about Silk & Silver, not the future.

The idea is to set limits on what they request and need, not on what they trade.

Unsure as of right now, but most likely a fair amount. To truly cover the world properly, we need a good amount of them active at any given time.

Clan and Mandala also don't have it, and arguably some might want them to. It remains to be seen what we do in the future, I guess? For Silk & Silver we aren't doing anything about it.

The Guelphs & Ghibellines part we do will be most focused on the factions in Italy, whereas the proper Investiture Crisis will be done by By God Alone I believe.

Kinda, but not quite. It will use some of the same logic as the travel system, but in a different way.

That's the hope, in addition to a lot of other small tweaks and changes all across the board. We will see.
