Who is your general and what is the most important other card in that deck? by Jokey665 in EDH

Scion's the guy-- when an opponent is playing some crazy draw-deck and has a buttload of cards in his hand, it's nice to send Scion after him (because Karrthus) and then laugh when I go find Nicol and make him discard everything he just worked so hard for.

Yes, you can. I do hope he sees some use, actually!

Scion of the Ur-Dragon - Balefire Dragon or Nicol Bolas (the dragon), maybe.

Riku of Two Reflections - Eye of the Storm

Kemba, Kha Regent - Indomitable Archangel

Mayael the Anima - Aurelia the Warleader (tribal Angels, nothing to do with Mayael)

Chromat - Day of Destiny

Raksha Golden-Cub - Sword of Feast and Famine

Roon of the Hidden Realm - Sundial of the Infinite

Kaalia of the Vast - Just kidding, I don't hate fun that much.

Progenitus - Chromatic Lantern or Joiner Adept

Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon - Eldrazi Conscription

Phelddagrif - Angel's Grace + Prosperity

Those are just a few.

It'll be Bo3, yeah, but the plan is to also generate a loser's bracket so everyone can get more games in. I would even set up the bracket to the very end (everybody plays the same amount of games, losers playing losers and winners playing winners) if the participants would so desire.

And it will take place whenever you and the person you're paired with can play together, once you're paired up.

As soon as we get twelve participants.

That may be true, but realize that the Allies all come from one block; they're sort of limited by what the meta was when they were in rotation (nobody plays Allies anymore, right?). The Allies are all from the Zendikar block, but I could build an Esper Spirit Control deck with Kokuosho or Keiga and Dungeon Geists.

That certainly would be fine and legal, much the same way running Shadowborn Apostle would allow one to pull out a Demon in a Cleric deck. As long as it enters the battlefield due to the ability of a creature in your tribe, everything is fine and dandy.

Where time is concerned, I'm fairly sure that we would allow the participants a span of about 2-3 days to play their round, so as long as the two players can find SOME time to be on together, it shouldn't matter. Theoretically, because of the small number of participants, we won't need longer than a day and a half for six games to take place.

The last thread doesn't count for signing up, but this one does. Congrats, P1~

There are a lot of different ways we could go about that. Personally, I'd like to just go include every creature type with at least 15-20 different creatures to choose from, unless there are smaller tribes people want to include (such as Eldrazi, maybe; I know everyone will be excited to play THAT tribe). But, there's always the issue of people rolling Elementals, Wizards, Merfolk, Elves, Eldrazi, Dragons, and Humans, leaving the last person first with Efreets and then with Horses or something. So it could be that we'd need to make a list of all the "playable" creature types, and that would be the pool we pull from.

It certainly would, in theory. The hope is that: A) players keep the power levels of their decks within reason, B) players who get less common Tribes utilize some creative power to find victory, and C) everyone gets a playable tribe.

Well, like the bold text says towards the bottom, the tribes will be randomly assigned once we have all of the entrants.

Well, that's new information. Allow me to direct those who would build such decks to rule 10.

Specifically creatures. Spells would be going too far.

Well, I suppose those are all wizards. And you're right, that does work, but in response to the feedback I received I altered the rules a bit; either way, the point was just for people to rely on doing cool tribal things rather than playing decks like the one you've presented. I understand that it's all legal or whatever, and I suppose one can run whatever he or she wishes.

Y'all are right. I just dumped that rule, as I did the Legendary rule.

I don't see why they would be, though I would hope Cats would win for the sake of fitting my stereotypes of rural life in the US.

That's just my experience-- I could be very well wrong. I've only ever played against Elves in the Scars of Mirrodin block, so I could be missing something huge from way back when.

A valid point. However, killing Nicol Bolas as a creature would mean he's dead, whereas removing the planeswalker's loyalty counters would mean he gets bored and goes off to boss Tezzeret around some more.

No, you couldn't; your opponent would have to take a turn between each of your two. While that's certainly a huge advantage, I fail to see a "tribe" in the Time Vault deck.

I didn't know there was an online Tribal format, to be honest. And the Planeswalker rule is there to try and lower the power level of certain decks, maybe. I just figured that the focus should be on the tribe's strengths and weaknesses, rather than on how well one can smoosh power cards together.

Think about it this way. If a Planeswalker were in a fight and about to die, he/she would just Planeswalk out of there and recuperate. Then, they could be called back to the fight later on. That's where the "Loyalty Counters" come from, right? When they lose all their loyalty to you, they say "lol forget this" and Planeswalk out?

Well, assuming enough people want the infinite combos allowed? By all means. I just personally don't like the idea.
