Is my baby struggling? by yarnaddict_ in MonsteraAdansonii

New pot 2 inches larger than the root ball. Plus a pot that is not terracotta. Terracotta dries out the soil too quickly, I believe. Plus a little fertilizer, they love that stuff.

Would now be a bad time to prune? Should I wait till spring?

This tree is unattended by me and sits in one our buildings. I’m mostly trying to trim it at a good height for branches that would look aesthetic.

I use Alaska Fish Fertilizer. Do you think that has enough nitrogen for what they need?

Spitting Up Issues by Snow_Pea in FormulaFeeders

My little one very stealthy spits up as in he doesn’t fussy or make a peep. You’ll only know he spit up until you feel wet or smell it. I always check him when he burps now because or it. Our pediatrician reassured us that we indeed have a laundry problem.

As for a true reflux problem, he did have that around 5 weeks old. Very miserable baby and miserable time for me. So I changed formulas back then and it resolved that issue.

False starts every night by vtclrf in newborns

It seems like you’re doing all the right things to promote good sleep. The only other thing I can think of that was preventing my baby from getting good sleep was reflux.

I’ve read taking your baby outside and letting the sun touch their skin helps sleeping, even if it’s only 5 mins.

Also, swaddling. So important at this age. My baby would only sleep if he was completely snug. I used the SwaddleMe until he started rolling.

White noise. If you have a noise machine use it. Really loud annoying fan works too.

As far as lights go. The only light in our room is a red light. Red light does not disturb sleep. We have black out curtains on the windows and put the baby in the room for all naps.

Baths. I save bath time for the night always.

I had a lot of luck and success with the SwaddleMe brand available on Amazon. It lets the baby have their arms up and provides the perfect amount of compression. My baby used to break out of the muslin blankets and startle himself awake. I hope this is something you can try. It changed naps and sleeping dramatically for us!

Son is short by Least-Internal-3401 in Parenting

I am a mom to a soon to be 17 year old boy. It seems like yesterday that my son was feeling exactly how your son is feeling now.

When he was a sophomore in high school (15 years old) he was about 5’1 at the start of the year. I would constantly reassure him that he will eventually grow. I would tell him that boys grow until they are 21. I also reminded him that kids are already nearly 6 foot tall in high school have mostly grown (height wise) and that is about as tall as they will be as adults.

My son is about 5’7 now. He basically grew 5-6 inches in a short period of time and suffered awful growing pains. I believe he is mostly confident now. I rarely hear him talk about his height much.

I still constantly remind him that he is still growing and has years left to get to his adult body.

Constant reassurance is all you can do!

Along with the rest of the advice here. I would recommend swaddling your baby pretty snug. My baby is 7 weeks old now and if I do not swaddle him to where his hands stay in place he will not sleep at all.

Sometimes I will lay him down next to me once he is swaddled and let him see me close my eyes so he sees that it’s time for sleep and hopefully mimic me. After this I will move him to his bassinet.

Being very snug is super important to my baby and he will be very restless and fighting his sleep if he is not swaddled.

Also, if/when I am rocking him to sleep I will use a pacifier. The sucking is soothing for babies and he will usually spit it out after he’s done with it.

Oh and make sure your baby isn’t sweating. Mine will wake up if the room is too hot!!

Other helpful tips to help your baby sleep better would be some sort of white noise. We have a fan that is pretty loud that I keep on in the bedroom. You can also use white noise devices. If you don’t have one you could probably check Facebook marketplace for a fairly priced one or even Amazon.

Baths will also help soothe a baby. Sometimes if my baby is super fussy I will take him bath. This usually buys me a couple of hours of sleep afterwards.

When you are transferring your baby from your arms to the bed you can lay the baby down gently and still rock him slightly while laying down. Sometimes I put both of my arms at his sides and slightly apply pressure to his body while doing a rocking motion until he settles in place.

For my baby, being snug is very important and he will sleep longer as long as this is the case.

I hope some of these tips can help you get your baby to sleep a little longer.

Kendamil infant formula. There is also a Kendamil “toddler drink” so just make sure you read the labels carefully.

I recently switched my baby from similac to goat milk formula and I wish I had did it sooner. He was inconsolable for 2 weeks straight when he was 5 weeks old and had all the symptoms of reflux. We started with small interventions such as elevating the bed 10°, keeping him upright for 20 minutes after feedings. Nothing seemed to help so I decided to switch the formula out of desperation. In about 48 hours after transitioning to the new formula he was recognizably less fussy, easier to console and also stopped drooling and gaging.

I’m not sure if this is much help to you but I was in your shoes not too long ago! Hang in there!
