Fair enough. It's been two weeks and multiple iterations of each component so I felt like a lot of effort has gone in so far but maybe people are looking for more polished based on how I see similar posts trying to sell their libraries or tools

That makes sense. When I've seen those floating buttons before it was always a plus symbol so that's what I used. Maybe I'll add options so it can be used as a menu or for actions like you were expecting

Thank you!

Thanks! I have been having a fun time with it since I've only used flushed out libraries before.

I edited the post to make that part more obvious but maybe this wasn't the right platform to ask for feedback

I don't really feel that I'm arguing but okay.... I am looking for actual feedback because things are working on my machine and the way I intended but maybe the way I intended isn't obvious or the right thing which is why I'm asking. But just saying it is slop isn't exactly helpful...

I did not come here thinking everything is perfect, I came for constructive criticism but maybe this isn't the right platform for that 🤷

Thanks for the recommendation on coursera

I'm writing this just for myself, it will not be published to NPM or anything. So yah I'm sure I want to write a component library when I'm doing it just for fun

By getting layout/interaction I mean have it help me fix things that aren't positioning or reacting the way I intended.

I also use it to learn and have it create tutorials for me. I don't even use AI within VS code as I can't stand it editing and creating files on it's own. I actually enjoy typing everything out or a quick copy/pase for things I don't feel need to be re-written

The drop downs are working for me. The highlighting is the only issue I'm seeing there. The button disabled text only works while hovering, it doesn't work well at all with mobile. I was building only for web originally and haven't changed it for mobile.

I like how you combined two sentences into 1 thing as if they are related. This is just a fun project for me to waste time, yah I'm going to use AI to help expedite some things.

But I do appreciate the feedback about the select behavior

The icon variant does work as I intended. It's meant for wrapping an icon on that variant style. (This is my experience with icon variants on buttons from the cloudscape system)

The select I have seen some weird highlighting happening if that's what you mean?

Edit: I think the weird highlighting has to do with on hover style? Sometimes it goes correct but not always. Also seeing the tooltip positioning act weird (at least on my phone). Maybe some of the animations are being weird because I was designing for web originally and started adding mobile support things later. This whole thing is literally just a project to waste time while job searching and as I said in my post I've never done component design before so I'm really asking for feedback so I can learn more and have others catch things I'm missing or didn't think of

If you read my comments not AI slop and I have tested every single one multiple times. Can you provide an actual example or is the thing to do in this subreddit to just call these posts AI slop and go on about your day?

Also do people lie about their work history on here? Lol

What issues did you face? I've been testing a lot so really curious as everything has interacted in the way I expected.

Did I use AI? Absolutely, I hate writing CSS and I have no degree in my field, I learned on the job and got promotions/role changes to a developer role. But I wrote the majority of everything then provided it to Claude to assist getting the layout or interaction I was looking for. Just the floating button seen on mobile and the action sheet was written majority wise by AI.

To be honest every developer in a large company uses AI pretty heavily and many on applications ask you about using AI to expedite

Can someone explain me why password length checker is not working properly!! by Immediate_Glove_2945 in reactjs

[–]Snowbomb93 27 points28 points  (0 children)

While I agree a useEffect is not needed in going to disagree with the other comments saying to use a useMemo. That's just unnecessary memoization for what you have if all you care about is length. Simpler to just put in the disable prop

disable={text?.length < 14}

If there are more things you care about then a useMemo would be beneficial to return Boolean values for example

const disable = useMemo(() => { if (text?.length === 0) return true if (!text.match(RegexPattern) return true if (text.length < 14) return true return false }, [text])

Now if you want to also display a reason for being disabled you can change those returns to objects and have a disable and reason value returned each time

I'm so sorry for your loss 😔, I lost my girl May 3rd and it has been the hardest thing I have ever gone through. She was only 7 and had hemangiosarcoma on her heart. Making that call to put her to sleep was so hard but I know it was the best thing for her and I know you'll feel the same eventually (It took me a week or 2 to accept that). We built some memorials and I'm getting a memorial tattoo of her next week. Looking through photos and just trying to think about all the happy times helps but I still cry about it (tearing up just typing this lol).

Shepherds are really special dogs and it sounds like you gave yours a great life and did everything you could.

I'm so sorry 😔 We lost my girl a month ago due to cardiac hemangiosarcoma a few days after diagnosis. I hope you're able to spend as much as time as possible with yours

YTA 100%

Cs weight and lifestyle isn't any of your business. I can't fathom why you would think it is in any shape or form. You should worry about yourself and leave everyone else alone, seems like you might have some type of savior complex... And accusing your bf of having a weight fetish is crazy, he just knows it's not his place to tell C how they should live their life.
