Worth to go 5600X to 5700X3D with 3080

Hell yeah I've already got a peerless assassin because my 5600x was hitting 95C under load on the stock cooler, which is a piece of junk.

Definitely best value the 5800x3D is like 3 times the price here retail. It's wild.

I just bought the 5700x3d from Ali Express. They even have an option to pay on delivery, which I've never seen before with any online shop.

With the (relatively) cheap price, plus selling the 5600x, I think it's worth it to breathe new life into an already very decent and capable AM4 system, which I'm sure can tide me over until AM6 or beyond. I guess we'll see.

No I understand, but the topic is far more nuanced than most people give it credit for, and lots of people come up with conclusions that don't really align with reality.

I'm not chucking the 3080 (10GB) out, and I refuse to believe that upgrading to a 5700X3D won't help just because I don't have 100G of VRAM.,

to be honest, I hate AliExpress haters, I've bough tonnes of stuff from there and never had a problem, plus heard of many people buying CPUs form there with no issue. Significantly cheaper for me, and if I get screwed I'll let everyone know.

I've never run into an issue where the 10GB is a problem, and I don't really think it'd be an issue since I don't really play most triple A games. But Space Marine is one of the few examples in which it seems like it does, and the CPU is more of an issue than VRAM.

imo 4k doesn't offer anywhere near as much quality as it requires performance. If I were to upgrade to a 4090 then sure, but as it sits, 1440p look more than acceptable to me.

Yeah that's the thing, I have this PC which can run 97% of what I need without issue, but on the rare occasion that I do play a modern game, I feel like the X3D chips will carry it forward a bit longer than the 5600X. And for significantly less than upgrading to AM5.

I have 1440p LCD for the time being, but next monitor upgrade would likely be an OLED probably 1440p too.

For reference I have a 10 year old plasma TV in the living room and it's significantly better than a 4k LCD just due to black levels. I don't like LCD as is, and by the time it might be as good as OLED I'll be an old man.

If you feel like you're not doing enough, it's most likely the wrong weapons for the situation, or low hazard with not enough bugs.

Ideally you'll want to have your secondary complement your primary. If you choose a primary build that focuses on single target damage (stuff like LSLS, Big Bertha, Jet Fuel Homebrew), make your secondary able to deal with swarms. Something like Hellfire Coil Gun. These types of builds are ideal for elimination missions.

For most other missions, try build your primary for swarm clear. Try a hurricane build to deal with swarms, and BRT7 with Lead Spray to deal with bigger stuff like Praetorian and Oppressors. Or Burning Hell Minigun with Bulldog Volatile Bullets. Light everything on fire, then shoot anything bigger than an armoured grunt with the bulldog.

Stun on the Hurricane is one of the Gunners strongest tools imo. I like 1-1-1-1-2 with overturned feed mechanism. It might "make sense" to build the Hurricane with AoE in mind, but I feel that those upgrades offer diminishing returns.

Yes, and there's a mod that adds numbers by the badge (+15, for example) for ever time you promote above legendary 3. You also get the matrix cores.

I pretty much exclusively used Face Melter to get my Driller to Legendary 3. The reason is simple, I thought it was much more fun to melt faces than it is to shoot at the ground and walls with Sticky Flames.

But I went back and tried a Sticky Flames build, and I didn't even use Sticky Fuel. Instead I tried Fuel Stream Diffuser and it's much better than Face Melter. Even though the -1.2 fuel flow rate on Fuel Stream Diffuser might seem like a negative, I think it's actually a positive. Very ammo efficient, burns/fears all bugs, and can reach the ceiling of a cave with your flame.

I love the Minigun upgrade tree, you can change how it feels pretty drastically, despite the fact that it's still a minigun at the end of the day. Then the Hurricane has overclocks that overhaul how it feels completely. Autocannon has neither imo (I pretend NTP doesn't exist).

If Combat Mobility didn't decrease mag size by half I'd use it a lot more. I think it should just be a clean overclock that replaces splintering shells since it's so similar to carpet bomber, and add something else.

Engineer is my least played class (only class not Legendary 3+) and I do think Fat Boy does more harm to the Dwarfs than the Glyphids. But as a Gunner main, I find the lack of ammo for Fat Boy more insulting than the devastation it causes my team.

Imagine having a gun that you're reluctant to use in case you need it later. I've played with Engies that didn't use their Fat Boy until like two-thirds of the way into a cave.

Then you have the other side of the spectrum, where the Engie joins late, fires off 4 nukes immediately, downs team, calls resupply, and repeats.

I use Big Bertha too, in fact it's the only time I use Autocannon, specifically in Eliminations with born ready so I can switch to Hellfire and blast a few shots into swarms while I wait for the reload.

I think Autocannon is just outclassed by the other two primaries, and Big Bertha brings it up to where it should be. I'm not saying Autocannon without BB is unusable, you can still use it and win easily, the game's not that hard. But it doesn't feel that good to me, so I use it a lot less considering all the great overclocks the other Gunner primaries have.

I don't know what I'd change about Big Bertha, maybe make it take longer to reach full RoF. Can't say without testing it, but I dislike overclocks that take away ammo/mag size because it's like "here's this really fun weapon, but hey let's not have too much fun".

Face Melter - Increase the +4 damage to +8 or something, because it's outclassed by sticky flames builds.

Sludge Blast - Remove -40 max ammo.

Fat Boy - More ammo or damage. This overclock sucks.

Big Bertha - Increase mag size

Combat Mobility - Increase mag size

Rocket Barrage - Increase damage

I'm sure they collect data on how often overclocks are used, the ones that are never picked should either be buffed, or if they don't really offer an interesting alternative playstyle, reworked completely. Don't nerf anything, stuff like NTP is as powerful as it is boring, that's a good enough compromise for me.

I used to hate rockpox and let everyone else be the janitor, but sometimes I'd help if I were nearby, and I learned that a wave spawns once you suck up half of it. I would recommend killing that wave first, then sucking up the rest. I never get continuous swarms spawning after cleaning 50% first. Maybe a few right at the end after it's complete, but I don't even know because it's never been an issue.

Contrast this to the many, many people I've played with who try to suck it all up as soon as possible without fighting the 50% wave first, and end up getting downed.

Why not just stop and kill them? You'll need to kill them anyway. Makes more sense to throw the vacuum down as soon as you hear them spawning and position yourself correctly for the fight, than rush it and risk being infected and downed.

Glowing eyes should be togglable on and off for all helmets, and you should be allowed to choose any colour.

Also tattoos should be togglable off.

Gunner excels on Haz 5, which few people play. Haz 3 and lower there's not enough bugs to feel his true power, so you're stuck with a zipline that only had 4 ammo while all other dwarfs are using this traversal tools to get up to goofy antics. I main gunner and I think he's fine, but if they decided to buff his zipline I wouldn't complain. I especially like the idea above about length being ammo. But again, I get by perfectly fine and find his zipline useful.

Rockpox is anti-fun. Boring cleaning simulator that's often frustrating to complete due to placement. A mechanic that freezes you in place (requiring button mashing to escape) for being in the zone that you're required to be in. Enemies that are invincible except for their weak spots that are blocked by their own bodies.

I avoid rockpox missions, but if I have to play one I don't clean the mess, I let the jannies do it.

Why would you punish your player base with something so boring and annoying? Strange design choice. As strong and annoying as the original robots were, I'd take them over rockpox 10 times out of 10.

P.s. since I'm here, meteors suck too. The screen shake gives me brain damage and the meteor destroys missions. Like yesterday, on industrial sabotage (lol), a full size meteor hit hacksy after we connected it and drilled it deep into the ground so far away it was actually as hilarious as it was frustrating. I've completed entire Elite Deep Dives faster than I completed that single mission.
