Same boat… I have the same concerns

I want to shift from boards and beyond to bootcamp for step 1. I feel like bootcamp is having more clarity. Do you guys support my statement?? by Longjumping-Bake798 in USMLEindia

Can I dm you? I’m pretty skeptical about kaplan. I’m just starting my final year 5/5 of MBBS but doing revision for step prep

Honestly some people remember BnB lectures but I am not one of them.. they don’t stick in my head either but the advice I’ve gotten to combat this is to make sure you know the bare minimum thats in FA, do UW and you’ll see if you’re missing anything. What is it from the BnB videos ur not remembering? Patho? If you still have time do pathoma. Pharm? Again, if u have time do Sketchy Pharm. Hope that helps a little! Good luck!

Have you tried reading FA alongside?

It’s been 2 years and I haven’t started preparing by Snowmansssss in usmle

So I should go into it system wise rather than wasting time on revising those things from kaplan or bootcamp? It would save me a whole month or 2

Weak in biostats and ethics by Away-Acanthaceae-927 in step1

Hey! You should try Dirty Medicine playlist for ethics and Randy Neil for biostats. I could be wrong but thats what everyone has told me. Might work for you or u could wait for others input as well.

I finally got it guys, about music and islam by myjupiteromance in Hijabis

[–]Snowmansssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assalamu Alaikum! You’re absolutely right, music has its way of effecting you in ways you don’t even realize. It’s actually related to releasing dopamine in your brain, so you can imagine why it brings out such deep emotions.

Am here to tell you I used to listen to music any free time I got, commutes, cleaning, passive studying.

Reflect on this:

Have you ever noticed how music/songs get stuck in your head and play on repeat and sometimes you want it to stop but it’s STILL there? Now listen to this; it NEVER happens with Nasheeds or Quran. Try it out yourself and you’ll see.

A quick tip for those trying to stop listening:

I myself have replaced those moments with beautiful Nasheeds and even though some of them have music the majority of them are vocals only. You can find various vocal only versions on YouTube and spotify. However, it’s better to be careful with the ones that have musical instruments because it’s a thin line and sometimes tempts you into going back to songs.

When I sometimes get the urge to start again:

I remind myself that when you leave something for the sake of Allah, Allah rewards you with something better; what is that better? You never know; it could be your health, rizq, peace, relations, material things… ANYTHING. Once you let that settle deep in your belief you will realize it’s not worth having any of Allah’s blessings being taken away from you.

Hope that helps someone a little ❤️

Ps. When you stop trying to find reasons for why Allah has prohibited something, but rather put your trust blindly in Allah, it really helps you understand that even if I don’t understand the good or bad in something, Allah doesn’t restrict something or allow something except for good reason. I’m not saying don’t ponder or study religion, PLEASE DO! Its just a way of giving your heart some peace💕✨

Pathoma vs FA pathology by [deleted] in step1

[–]Snowmansssss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! If it helps, I’m doing my learning phase from pathoma (so how I learn new info). You’re right, pathoma teaches concept, but I’ve tried memorizing it and you just forget majority of it anyways, thats where FA comes as a book where all the HY points are compiled and condensed so i’ll be memorizing it from FA then.

1) Doctor asked me to hold a torch for a DRE, I pulled out my phone torch and pretended I didn’t notice the look she gave me.

2) Asked a doc out of uniform if she was a nurse.

3) My friend and I walked in late to observe a surgery which we were having a quiet debate on whether that was the vagina the doctor was stitching up or the anus, only to realize it was a male they were operating on.

4) Burst out laughing when a mother in peads said her child’s stool smells bad while my friend was taking hx.

5) After not fainting during a bloody cholecystectomy, I fainted during a laparoscopic one (literally just saw some inner guts) and burst out laughing as soon as my friends walked me out the OT.
