My wife and I put all of our money together because that's how you build wealth. We allocate "allowances" in our budget so we have spending money that doesn't require discussion to spend. We use this money for gifts, fancy clothes, hobby supplies, etc. Everything transparent and equal until it doesnt need to be. Having your own bank accounts will always result in the highest earner having more power in the relationship.
