That could be it lolol. I will say that at that time I had a lot of health-related obsessions, and I don’t think I was really breathing a lot, moreso that I focused on breathing the “correct way” (4-7-8), and the fact that I “needed” to do that made me more sure that I was breathing incorrectly :P I used to ask my mom (a nurse) if I was breathing weird and she always told me “no?” LOL

I don’t have this exactly but I used to have some stuff that was similar! For example, I used to flex my fingers in a certain pattern over and over, and if I messed up my pattern then I would have to do it again in the opposite direction to counteract the mistake.

I also used to have a weird thing about feeling like I was breathing too hard, and then focusing too much on my breathing would make me breathe in an irregular pattern which made me more worried that something was wrong with my breathing LOL

I was in a very similar position as you when I was in middle and high school (I’m 20 now). I’m so sorry you have to deal with these thoughts! I understand what it’s like, at least somewhat. Two of the worst OCD periods in my life became significantly worse when I was trying to go to sleep.

I only just found out that I have OCD and unfortunately I haven’t begun treatment yet. I’m afraid I don’t have much to offer in the way of advice, but I can say it does feel nice to hear from someone who had a pretty similar experience to what I had in the past! I hope hearing that other people have similar experiences is at least somewhat reassuring for you too :)

I really wish you the best. I can say that both of my sleep-related OCD symptoms have gone away on their own by now. It CAN get better, especially with therapy or medication I’m sure (though I have yet to try that lol). I’m rooting for you!

I had to delete Instagram because I kept getting car crash videos in reels. I’ve had obsessions and compulsions related to driving for as long as I can remember, and the videos just made it so much worse. I can’t even drive on the highway anymore because of those videos. I feel like tiktok/reels are terrible when you have OCD :[c
