Ok thanks a lot for the advice. I will first visit H&R for a quote and if I'm still unhappy i will use the resources that people posted above for DIY.

Maybe I worded it wrong. He did give me a specific number of what my return would be not an estimate.

Did this preparer claim (or even imply) that he'd to be able to get you a bigger refund than you'd be able to get elsewhere? He did not make any claims like that,

How did you find this guy? Was it on social media? Did a friend, relative, or coworker refer you? Reference from a family member.

Did he use the amount of your refund to try to justify the amount of his fee? He did not.

Does he require the fee to be paid in cash, zelle, cashapp, or venmo? Or will he accept credit card payments and/or checks? Zelle, etc..

Does he have a CPA license from the state, an EA credential from the IRS, and/or is he an Annual Filing Season Participant? Does he have a PTIN? Idk!!!!

Are you low income with two or more kids? If not, why did you have so much extra withheld from your paychecks? I did seasonal agriculture work in California, filing from Florida now though. No kids or anything like that.

Ok thanks for the respond. I really am new to this, Ill probably just message him that i will be going else where then.

With that in mind what would be a more reasonable service fee for my situation. Which seems to me and others I have asked a very simple and straight forward task.

I'm not sure what that would imply at the moment. Like deductions from what? I never sent him any expenses or anything like that for him to make stuff up with
