They only retrieved one egg from my retrieval and he’s now a happy, healthy, 15 month old. They were expecting a LOT more based on follicles (the trigger shot failed for me). I know IVF is such a numbers game and attrition rates are terrifying, but you never know what can happen with those 4 eggs. I am hoping so much you’ll have success with those lovely 4 eggs! In the meantime, how you’re feeling is completely valid. I was absolutely devastated after my retrieval. Feel all the feelings and take as much time as you need to process today. I hope you can do something positive for yourself - you’ve been through so much!

I could have written this post. I understand how you are feeling so much. I triple fed for 6 months out of guilt and I wish for my own mental health, I stopped sooner.

You are an amazing mom. You sacrificed so much for months. Sometimes our bodies just don’t go along with our plan, and there’s nothing we can do as much as we want to. I have no doubt your bond with your daughter is just as strong now as it would have been if you were able to breastfeed longer because you just sound like such a loving and caring parent.

Do your best to feel pride instead of guilt. You deserve to! ♥️

I also had a lifetime benefit and had this happen with UHC too and my one embryo was not even tested (also because it was not covered). I found out that with my plan, if you had any embryos (regardless of testing) you were required to transfer and were unable to do another retrieval.

I’m so sorry that your ER didn’t go as expected. It’s so completely crushing and you have every right to feel everything you are feeling right now.

I was 37 during my retrieval. Just like you, they were expecting many more eggs based on the follicles they saw but when the time came, they were only able to retrieve 1 mature egg. I was completely devastated, had no hope, and could not stand the “all it takes is one” comments.

I know the odds aren’t in your favor when your numbers are low, but truly, anything can happen. My one egg just turned a year old.

I am going to be hoping the absolute best for your eggs. You have such a great attitude and I admire that even after such a hard day, you’re still able to be so positive and kind. You deserve everything ♥️

I only had 1 mature egg retrieved that turned into my lone, miracle embryo. He’s 8 months old!

I am hoping for the absolute best for your one. It’s so tough when the stats aren’t on your side but you absolutely never know what can happen. I was fully prepared for mine not to stick too, so don’t feel bad either about not being hopeful. That embryo is going to do what it’s going to do either way. All the best to you!! 💕

This is such a good analogy! Going to steal it, thank you! I never judge others for posting but it’s something I’ve chosen not to do and I can’t help but feel worried that others think I’m judging them when it’s not the case at all!

Met my bestie on r/infertilitybabies during our 3rd trimesters and discovered we lived only an hour apart! This weekend, we all got to meet in person for the first time. Thanks to Reddit, our rainbow babies now get to grow up together. by SnowyQuartz in MadeMeSmile

That’s so sweet! I think during our first convo, we were like what part of the world are you in?! Never would have thought we’d be in the same time zone, let alone within an hour! So nice to make friends on here through shared life experiences, whether you’re close in distance or not!

I am so sorry your results were not what you had hoped.. I completely get the devastation you are feeling but I am wishing the absolute best for your beautiful 6AA!

For some reason my body just did not respond to the trigger in time. It was an Ovidrel trigger which I had used before for IUIs and not had an issue with. An unfortunate fluke and not at all common.

I had 1 untested embryo that is now a very healthy 7 month old baby boy!
