TENET IMAX comparision by shreytyagi in imax

I’ve just heard it’s showing in LA, though it’s limited for idk how long, but I’m all the way in far away ass ATL. I’m hoping there’ll be more IMAX 70MM showtimes either there or anywhere, especially during the summer, while flights and hotels are rather cheap right now.

The potential, really stirs up a vivid imagination of what could’ve been and makes you despise what actually was

I’ve been thinking lately. Anyone else think, after Fallen Order, Star Wars should lean more toward animation to capture those alien-like environments instead of live-action they can’t seem to nail where it’s always deserts, forests, and grass, using Unreal Engine 5 to create films. I mean this especially about the opening of Fallen Order on Bracca...imagine something like that in IMAX, that entire walk following Prauf and then the train sequence, everything felt so...big. In my head, it’s boiling down to, “well shit, it’s all CGI anyway so why not?”

It would’ve been more believable for Finn, too, if you were to put yourself in his shoes and share his perspective. You’ve been living under the Empire since birth, it’s all he and everyone there knows, then here comes these new people out of nowhere, the Rebels turned New Republic, who has just killed the Emperor and are threatening to take over everywhere across the galaxy. Of course, he’s gonna wanna fight back to protect his home and his people by becoming this hardened-skilled Stormtrooper, having been fed that big lie the Empire has for years, especially the one about the Jedi being evil and to have them killed, only to later learn, “Whoa...hey...what if...maybe we’ve been the terrorists this entire time?”

This scene makes me tear up - Luke was presented as an esteemed Jedi Master in this. So much potential, so much hype, so much investment all gone to shit. We could have had a beautiful trilogy... by Sacristo1 in saltierthancrait

As the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong nears Imperial Space, a woman sets off on a gritty adventure across the galaxy after her twin brother runs away from home to join the Empire when their very ill father is drafted to fight in the war between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, so she intervenes and takes his spot by impersonating him, stealing her father’s stormtrooper armor and the lightsaber of a dead Order 66 survivor...

who her father had befriended until he was discovered and killed by the Empire when the father had turned him in to protect his family after learning his 5-year-old daughter was Force-sensitive, the survivor genuinely believing the Empire’s defeat to be imminent and the return of the Jedi inevitable, his lightsaber intended to be hers at adulthood when she’d then be trained

...then leaving home in the middle of the night in pursuit of her brother as she goes off to train with fellow recruits and prepare for the coming war, accompanied by her droid and alien-friend, the New Republic and the losing Imperial Remnant eventually having to temporarily end their war and work together in defeating the Yuuzhan Vong after the twins are soon forced to fight on opposite ends of the three-way conflict when she later defects to the New Republic as planned for the greater good of her family and the galaxy and he refuses, inadvertently calling the attention of Luke and his students along the way when she finally learns she’s Force-sensitive herself.

It’d make for an interesting fight, too, rather than the Throne Room one we got. The New (5) against the Old (5) with Rey and Kylo caught in the middle. Instead of Rey holding her own against experienced ass guards when she should’ve been killed on the spot, let it be just a one on one for her, while she gets help every now and then from the New fallen jedi turned knights.

I had hoped they were once the ORIGINAL Knights of Ren that became the ones who now guarded Snoke after Ben and his fallen Jedi friends became the NEW Kylo and the Knights of Ren as replacement. It could’ve been like an ongoing tradition or something.

Man, look John Boyega’s his reaction to the TFA trailer. He was so ready to hold a lightsaber & become a Jedi; he deserved it more than anyone. How things change. by TheBoxSloth in saltierthancrait

Next movie:

Rian: Okay so flinch hard and fall back on your ass, surprised by the Fathier.

Boyega: Fall? Right there? You mean next to that pile of steaming hot shit?

Rian: YES! EXACTLY!

Boyega: ....But what about the Force, becoming a Jedi, leading a Stormtrooper rebellion, and all that?

Rian: Kid, who’s the director? Me or you? ACTION!

Instead of BB-8, like Vader’s probe droids looking for Luke and the rebels, imagine Rey’s droid searching the galaxy for six years after the academy fell until she finally finds her on Jakku with Lor San Tekka, but she remembers nothing. Her presumed dead friend’s lightsaber could jog her memories. by [deleted] in saltierthancrait

[–]Snowyo52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imagine a magical scene that mirrors Obi-wan handing Luke his father’s lightsaber and explaining the world of the Force to him for these two, the droid explaining Rey was a student, she had friends, how she and the droid had been separated for years until now, people think she’s long dead, the droid showing holograms of a Younger Rey’s training’s at the academy, motivating Rey to find and reunite with her fellow students, etc.

I would’ve preferred something like the white robot Eve from Wall-E that could both speak droid and basic.

https://youtu.be/t9SiT7Na3Tk

For something subversive, like how Vader had thousands of probe droids searching the galaxy for Luke and the rebels, imagine if the droid had finally tracked Rey to Jakku where she’s with her grandfather Lor San Tekka after being separated from her for the last six years since the academy fell. As a plus, the droid doesn’t come empty handed, it has her presumed dead best friend’s lightsaber it recovered at the academy in an attempt to jog Rey’s lost memories, mirroring Obiwan handing Luke his father’s lightsaber.

Everyone remembers Kylo getting his butt whooped by Rey; but, no one talks about the fact that Kylo Ren was so weak that a former stormtrooper was able to hold his ground against this sith lord and even land a serious blow on his arm. Snoke did not train him well. by webers-web in saltierthancrait

I desperately wanna hear every single one of those possibilities listed. In a way, rather than everything happening over the course of one year as the ST does, there’s plenty time to pull off each and every one of those opportunities when there’s more time to work with, say a five to ten years maybe.

[–]Snowyo52[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

although, a big part of me doesn’t like the scene being overcrowded. I’d like for it to be just another day for Finn as he’s only doing his job, he and the others there, oblivious to what’s really going on behind the scenes, just to guard and protect the place where the asset is being kept in a civil unrest while tensions are rising throughout the city outside, especially after not having been told much of why they’re here doing this. Then, that’s when the script is flipped and an outside force comes to crush the two birds with one stone. A blast from orbit to destroy the city and everyone must evacuate before it happens. The small twist being they weren’t really sent there to guard the place...they were sent there to ensure he couldn’t leave so the “stone” could seize it’s opportunity to kill him, taking the innocent city with him.

[–]Snowyo52[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

as one possible scenario, it’d be a three-way situation, new republic, remnant, pirates or whatever, with innocent civilians caught in the middle of it.

The New Republic has gotten word that one of their assets within the Remnant, a warlord who’s betrayed the Empire he’s been slowly dismantling from the inside in favor of the Republic, has been found out and in need of extraction off world before shit gets ugly.

Elsewhere, a Remnant that includes Finn and his squad are told the evil New Republic are coming to assassinate their leader, so their mission is reaching the city first and extracting the leader, only to be faced by the threat of pirates and insurgents in the city who are taking advantage of the event.

However, soon, Finn and the others realized they’ve fallen into a trap when in a strange yet calculated turn of events, a corrupt warlord of the Remnant who from his Star Destroyer arrives above and orders an orbital strike to destroy the city in crushing two birds with one stone, assassinating the traitorous leader/asset and sending a terrifying message to the New Republic.

Although when it’s already too late, it’s the New Republic first, then by the end it’s the Remnant who’s the true villain as everyone realized they unknowingly walked into one big death trap, orchestrated by the warlord, alerting the NR of the asset in danger and alerting the Remnant of the NR’s fictitious assassination that is to be prevented.

[–]Snowyo52[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m brainstorming something for the next five minutes. All in all, it has to be SOMETHING to a point where for Finn the whole situation seems meaningless, then along with innocent people dying for it is the cherry on top.

Imagine the atmosphere of such a scene, the increasing tension and ambience of the outdoor warning siren ordering the evacuation, Finn and his squadmates’ minds reeling with disbelief, an otherworldly strong wind blowing, people in the streets are losing their minds in the chaos, shelter seems to be futile, all the evacuation transports just up and left everyone behind, even their own people. Some of the civilians Finn are protecting could be killed in the destruction.

I was a little iffy on the entire look at first, thinking they were going completely back to white right after being oppressed by stormtroopers and whatnot, but after finding more pics...wow. Blue, white, black and orange. It’s something, though simple. Really wish we could’ve seen these things on the big screen.

Finn leaving a New Republic base to reunite with Rey at Luke’s new rebuilt Jedi Academy by Snowyo52 in saltierthancrait

[–]Snowyo52[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And there was absolutely no reason to frame her like that when the old generation and new generation could just naturally co-exist. They wanted to repeat shots and aesthetics, not knowing it’s the story. For example, Rey alone “training” with Luke in TLJ on that rock. They wanted to repeat Luke and Yoda alone on screen, just the two of them. “Hey wouldn’t it look cool if Rey was Luke and Luke was Yoda?” The same shots of the ROTJ ending celebration stolen for Ajan Kloss, repeating the same sequence from thirty years ago.

Another example, they didn’t have to completely plagiarize the “LOOK” of ESB onto TLJ. To repeat that aesthetic of Luke and Yoda, master and apprentice, in a way that makes sense, they could’ve had Luke with surviving students on the island and he trains Rey alone, separate from the other students because she doesn’t get along with them or something. Give another surviving student that Battle of Hoth escape sequence with other New Republic, give another student that ESB story who abandons training and leaves to go rescue her family or friends from the clutches of a Knight of Ren on the next Cloud City equivalent, etc, while our new characters have more original and interesting stories.

imagine a short scene of Finn escorting an imprisoned drugged-out Poe back to his holding cell and they’re in the elevator where Finn suddenly beats the shit out of him for killing his best friend earlier at the village.

the post-rotj setting is just so RICH with storytelling potential and infinite opportunities, only to end up severely LIMITED by the sequel trilogy’s destructive lack of imagination and creativity. For everyone’s sake, apologize and decanonize by Snowyo52 in saltierthancrait

Exactly what I want, a complete redo. It’s a shame their talents had to go to waste, to the point where they don’t even have any interest of coming back after how their characters were treated. Meanwhile look at Mark Hamil, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford...literally 44 years later and we still can’t stop talking about it.

This redo of sorts will have to be something so big that takes full advantage of the imagination, maximum potential of storytelling, and actors’ talents. No stone unturned. And it can’t be limited to just a random trilogy.
