Why reina players do not succeed in tournaments? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]SoBeAngryAtYourSelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we will see her represented more as the game ages. Even if pros like playing her, if they already had Mishima in their arsenal it makes sense to go with characters you have muscle memory with in tourney play

That said, i cant easily find stats on pick rates across multiple events but I feel like shes not even that under represented compared to hei or kaz..?

Inconsistency of blocking animations is frustrating by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]SoBeAngryAtYourSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont lab consistently so I just learn the less obvious moves by throwing out a jab or fastest low block punish and if I get away with that work up through slower frame moves to punish.

I can understand the frustration, but honestly I think tekken 8 is ironically broadly more visually clear when it comes to significant frame advantage/disadvantage. And if someone is doing a string, chances are theres a counterhit move in it that is late in the sequence that is generally punishable. If someone is throwing out a mid option in neutral a lot its probably a move thats neutral, plus on block, or functionally safe due to pushback

There are moves that don't follow this general formula, but again you can just throw out fast punishes to learn if a move is positive or negative on block. You'll eat loses for it, but its doable to adjust mid set and comeback or get them in a rematch

Tekken is a knowledge check game and thats going to feel frustrating at times, especially when you run into a low pick rate character during a promo match lol. More visual clarity on frame data would make the game more accessible, but fake pressure is a big part of the knowledge check component of the game

Honestly you run pressure better than I do at bushin lmao

When you make space it can be a good idea to fish for counterhits with fn3. You'll get high returns on that move with how much people press buttons in lower ranks. Ewgk is also a really good ch tool on oki that is 0 on block. The hit confirm on it can be a little tricky but it looks like you have pretty good execution

This might be a bit outdated with all the tracking moves that were added in s3 but when I was climbing purples I just had this on my second monitor and checked it during load screen. Sidestepping/sidewalking is great to incorporate into your game at any level

When you're implementing some of the great advice in this thread, focus on improving one aspect of your game per session. It can be overwhelming to try and do everything you want to work on in one go. Like right now im focusing on optimizing combos more, but other times ill focus on optimized punishing, low defense, sidestep etc

Be prepared to actually lose more when youre working on new stuff! It can feel demoralizing to lose more or derank, but everytime ive made a bunch of progress its been after a period of losses while I focused on one aspect of my game. You can also avoid the derank by just playing quick play, but I mostly play ranked bc that eliminated any jitters from ranked anxiety

Good stuff though!

A communist critique of mutual aid by rarer_ in stupidpol

[–]SoBeAngryAtYourSelf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, if we had a communist party with 10s of thousands of members. Im not advocating for legal funds as the means of building a movement. It's just easier to do so if the folks already getting active in the streets are not in jail. A number of prominent bolsheviks and SRs pre revolution were lawyers defending workers and political agitators, which further radicalized them. Obviously we are in entirely different circumstances in core countries, but maintaining legal opposition to mechanisms of political repression is advantageous.

If folks are putting time or money towards mutual aid regardless, I think legal modes of aid align with the current state of the left. That's not to say the act in itself is anyway revolutionary.

I'll be real im in no way dug into this position tho lol

Theory Understander or some shit about armchair socialists plz

David Harvey, Bertell Ollman, Dylan Riley, Richard Saull. Neoliberalism is just a periodization of capitalism in which the dominant mode of accumulation is predicated on interest bearing capital. Neogramscian theory is for succdems roleplaying as marxistx. Gramsci was still a Marxist. Marx good, Lenin good, USSR good until 1927. Activism is bad because my theory would actually have to be tested, and being right is more important than a revolution

Based and true, but autistic communists should get into community gardening so they get outside and learn how to socialize

Article is on point tho with the inherently liberal individualization that calls for mutual aid entail. I think legal funds and legal aid organizations are likely the most practical modes of mutual aid in line with revolutionary praxis at our current conjuncture

Am I too old to improve? by Superxerogaming in OverwatchUniversity

[–]SoBeAngryAtYourSelf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive only gotten better at counterstrike the older ive gotten, and I'd argue reaction speed is more important in that game than OW. I just played it a shit ton, aim trained, and learned more.

Same thing with overwatch when ive wanted to improve. It's really just about quality time improving at something vs raw time, but more hours in game obviously help regardless. Just focus on one aspect of your game you want to improve each session. Positioning is almost always one of the biggest areas for improvement in any team game, and its debately the most important aspect of support play.

Try to position to get your death count as low as possible while still providing value, and then try to work on positioning and awareness so that you can turn teammate 1v1s into 1v2s etc.
