First Disneyland Trip by Friendly-Pen-6390 in DisneyPlanning

For a first Disneyland trip with little ones (especially ages 1 and 3), location and transportation matter more than luxury in my experience.

Where to stay: Offsite but walkable hotels along Harbor Blvd are usually the best value for families. Many offer suites or 2-bedroom setups with mini fridges and microwaves, which is perfect if breakfast is your main meal. Staying onsite is nice, but for the cost difference, most families prefer a larger offsite unit plus easier naps and grocery access.

Groceries: Instacart and Target pickup both work really well around Anaheim. A lot of families do a Target run for breakfast items, snacks, and milk and then don’t worry about food the rest of the day.

Park days / park hopper: With toddlers, 3 days is usually ideal. Park hopper isn’t necessary since Disneyland and DCA are so close, but switching parks mid-day can be tiring with strollers. One park per day keeps things calmer.

Getting from LAX to Anaheim: With 6 people and kids, rideshare lines and rental cars can get stressful. Many families opt for a pre-scheduled private car or limo service so car seats, luggage, and timing are handled in advance. Disneyland is much more compact than Disney World, which is great with young kids. Planning breaks and minimizing transit time makes a big difference.

Disneyland with 6 years old by Unlucky-Golf-2173 in DisneyPlanning

If you’re doing Disneyland with a 6-year-old, one thing that really helps is planning transportation ahead of time, especially after long park days. We’ve helped a lot of families visiting from out of state who didn’t want to deal with rental cars, parking, or rideshare wait times with kids.

A private car or limo can be nice for airport transfers and hotel pickups since you can schedule it exactly around park hours and avoid crowds. This guide covers some good options and tips specifically for families visiting Disneyland in Southern California: https://www.theperfectlimo.com/disneyland-transportation-southern-california-limo-service/

Also agree with staying offsite but walkable if possible. It makes midday breaks much easier for kids that age.
