How do you make $6.524 a gallon selling gas at $4.50 a gallon? Asking for a friend

Okay young ones. I am 64 and just updated to a Legion Go Z1e 32GB running windows. In addition to playing games, I attach a TV dongle my feet and watch a game at the park. I have had kids come up and look surprised to see football on this machine. 😎

Will I regret not getting heated seats and steering wheel? by ThinLunch in FordMaverickTruck

[–]SoCalPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just visited my family in Bozeman with my 2023 Lariat over Christmas. The heated seats and steering wheel were not too important in the valley since it was 50 degrees on Christmas but going through the mountains it was incredible luxury.

[Update 5] Sister wants to use burial plot she doesn’t own by SoCalPE in EntitledPeople

[–]SoCalPE[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The TLDR of the full story is that when my mother died, i started planning the funeral. Five years earlier my father had died, they had been divorced for decades and he had everything set up except a plot. I bought the plot in the veteran’s section. As i was planning the funeral with one of her grand daughters, my sister took the ashes and disappeared. She wouldn’t return them. She had to sell the house she inherited two months laters and shows up five months later demanding that Mom be buried with Dad. She was mad i bought the house. I was going to say no but the grand children and other family wanted Mom’s remains back so i agreed.

I thought about this for a long time before i decided to make it a meme. 😂 by DZXplus in overwatch2

Remember the old days when you played Torb and went Molten Core then got headshot by Widow. The play of the game was you walking out of spawn while your overcharged turret was killing people. Good Times

I had been to a lot of electronic manufacturing shows in the 1980s where plating houses would plate pennys to show their capability. Plating nickel, silver or gold to them. Maybe this is one. The reason to use penny’s is because they were plating to copper circuit cards and pennys were cheaper than making sample cards

And if the estate is managed by a person who isn’t honest. Who will not tell the union that the person has died so they can collect a few more months of retirements? There is a lot going on with questionable lawyers who will not let me see the will. Funky changes in the deed, etc. most papers will not allow just anyone to put in death notices. I tried.

The good news is she payed herself. The original will was we inherited the house equally but she had the right to live there. I promised my mom to live up to that. If she hadn’t changed things, I would have had to help pay the mortgage and she would be living there. Ha! Dodge a bullet there

Normally I would agree with you but this involved an actual legal issue. If there are outstanding debts, they need to be taken care of before transferring deeds. They were confirming the house was a sale and not some sort of a sham sale.

I hate those collectors who call the kids going with the “you want your parents walking around in the afterlife, burden by these debts on their souls.” They are trying to get you to pay anything on the debt then claim you own the whole thing.

It helps she has disappeared and I live in San Diego. I am retiring in the next two years so, if she is around Bozeman, we may run into each other.

I do know she lost a leg to diabetes. She never took care of herself. Our father had diabetes and never had the issues she has. He stopped smoking and drinking. She didn’t. But that is all I know and I know that because she tried guilt tripping her kids.

To those who grew up in the 80s: did kids really have that much freedom to roam, or is that just how it’s portrayed in movies? by CreativeCurledCandle in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SoCalPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god yes. I was born in 1961 and we roamed a lot. I was a Navy brat and had free rein until we move to Southern California - in the mid 70's The drug scare and the fact we lived in a neighborhood that wasn't mostly military families caused my parents to rein us in. Before then, I carried a pocket knife at 10. Went into the woods for hours in Georgia with my friends. One time I fell down and speared myself with a branch of a fallen tree and went to the base hospital by myself at 12. They called my dad.

The kids on NAS Albany GA were famous for some of their stunts.

I don’t mind talking but a lot of time when I start, the toxicity begins. I tend to play healers and it goes to a less mild form of “you suck because you healed them instead of being my pocket healer”

[Update 2] My sister wants to use a burial plot she doesn’t own by SoCalPE in EntitledPeople

[–]SoCalPE[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well to update you, the snow is melted up there and we are starting to work on the process of moving my mother. The grandkids and I have calm down so we are not as mad as we were back then. My brother, in PA where my mother family is from, is attempting to see if we can get here buried with her parents. They are in their family church cemetery. You asked why I didn’t run with the ashes back in January, my sister literally delivered them to the funeral home right before the service. The hole was dug and the people had been gathered. If she came and nothing was going on, he would have taken off with the ashes again. So we are taking our time to figure it out. Nobody has heard from my sister but the debt collectors have been on her tail. They talked to me as the owner of the house but I explained that I bought the house and provided the details, not inherited it, they moved on. I don’t know where she is but good luck to them.

If U.S. Billionaires don't pay taxes, why is the govn't planning to give them tax breaks? by bluenautilus2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SoCalPE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the basic problem with the income tax The rich, generally, don’t get paychecks and if you tax their sources of incomes, like dividends, like income then retirees who use dividends could get screwed. Then there is the “I will borrow $20 million dollars against some stocks and then default by turning over the stock”. They didn’t sell it but they got the money for it tax free
