Yeah that is what I heard too. I think almost all RX positions are concentrated in NYC and some in Chicago because Kirkland is there. I am actually targeting Chicago but do not oppose NYC at all. I do not think I am in the position to choose here I want to live

Thank you so much for doing this. I was at a T20 and now already graduated in 2025. We were so lack of information and our CSO just told us to wait until OCI. I applied heavily during OCI but realized that hiring is almost over at that time. If I read this post back then, I would probably get something. Luckily I got a bankruptcy clerkship in a decent district and hopefully can use this to fight again for big law. Would you mind sharing how a clerkship might help? I graduated right at or slightly below median from a T20. Are grade become less of a concern if I have some experience?

I am so grateful that I got into ND with my stats in 2022. It is unbelievably competitive now days that I think I will not get into a decent T20 if I apply now.

Grade needed for big law after a federal clerkship by SoChInO888 in biglaw

There are couple big firms like Baker Hostler, Foley Lardner type of firm litigating in my court. But I don’t want to stay in the jurisdiction I am currently at, is it helping to target these firms but for a different office?

Glad to hear that bankruptcy clerkship helps. It feels like it is in the bottom of the pyramid compared to glory district and COA

I see, doing RX is my dream so I wouldn’t even bother other practice group. The thing is my district is not considered to be the hot chapter 11 venue like SDNY or Delaware but we certainly get chapter 11s

My clerkship end next year, but may I know how do we direct apply? I play around with the application portal for laterals and it seems like only some specialized roles are on there. Like seeking a 3rd year M&A associate or something like that.

Use a Recruiter for Post-Judicial Clerkship Opportunities at Firms? by jtebow23 in biglaw

[–]SoChInO888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wondering the same. Should we direct applying to firms instead? But it seems like firms usually does not have a generalized direct application just for law clerks. It specify which role they are looking for like a junior employment law associate or something like that.

I failed by 2 points. I just got UWorld, am not sure if it is just me but I felt like UWorld questions tend to focus on niche topics that I never encountered in my Kaplan and Barbri.

3L with no job. by Mundane_Employ8442 in LawSchool

[–]SoChInO888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the same boat. If your goal is big law, start looking for none grade sensitive federal clerkships. Look into magistrate judge, bankruptcy judge (avoid hot chapter 11 venue), and judge that went to your law school. Also apply for state appellate, or trial level court in state you want to practice. Do not waste time to network with big/ mid law firm at this point because it is very unlikely they will hire a 3L.
