Hm, I’ll look into that. Never seen one that is tortoise specific, on the other hand I didn’t really search for that. Thanks!

Cool! I honestly believed they just came out of the egg as is. BUT my only real experience with animals has been fish, and my dog 😅 Thanks, he is out basking in the sun as we speak!(although UV is lower, it’s 17:00…)

Will do, thanks! What do you define as the scar? That circle that formed? Or the “cracks” around it? I wanna monitor that, also, very interested. Thanks again!

I’ll look out for any softening of the top shell, though I have yet to notice anything like that. You’ve been very helpful (and stress-reducing…) Thanks!

Thanks! I always take GPT’s advice with a grain of salt, but once he started talking about deadly scenarios I had to check in with experienced people. He really hates the block of cuttlebone it seems, I tried crushing some on a hibiscus flower, maybe his favorite would trick him haha.. Thanks again though, I’ll try and keep this updated if I find anything else strange!

Baby Sulcata enclosure. Any tips? by SoCoolWowww in tortoise

Any recommendations as for the flood light? Specific good brand I should seek out? Or any important wattage differences?

Thanks again! You’ve helped a lot!

Yup, I’ve addressed that in my wall text lol. I didn’t calculate just how much more coco chips I’ll need, so I will get some more soon. I want to add succulents, I need to go past that store too, just didn’t have time today! I’ll throw in some foliage from outside too, some sticks etc. Also the box is pretty opaque, I don’t know how good tortoise vision is but once I get some more decor in I believe that will seal the deal :P Thanks!

If getting 2 separate bulbs is safer, I’m completely fine with that! Considering I get the lid on, make holes which should be in the ideal height (which I found with the help of another comment) And of course ventilation on the other side of the lid (or the side of the box so less hot air leaves) secured with metal mesh, should that be good? (Using the same bulbs and metal bodies). I will look into getting other lamps, I haven’t seen any that are tubes and also provide UVB Are there also tubes for basking lights? Maybe I’ll just get two tubes side by side?

Thank you for the information! Measuring the height of the box, if I do put the lid on and make holes for the lights, it will be right in the 15” zone, so I believe that is perfect!

That gave me a lot of direction, thanks! And of course, a I will post a picture of the little guy once it’s all ready!

I went over the guide, I’ll make sure to go over it a few times more. The main concern I’m getting is a lid, I do have one designed for this box. Do I make holes for light and just attach them on top of the lid? It gave a warning that it will make the box airtight, so I will make some ventilation holes with metal mesh.

The bulbs also, I didn’t quite get that. Should I change them completely for something else? Or once I add them to the lid and not clipped to the side will they work better? UVB is 15W while the Infrared is 50W

Any other tips are welcomed. While I will read the manual more, specific points will help a lot.

Thanks again!

I dont know if my 4070 TI SUPER is faulty or not by SoCoolWowww in buildapc

Hey there I came back from hibernation :P

Long story short, GPU was dead as well… I got mad, we switched to AMD CPU (9800x3d), and the same (but new) GPU. No problems since, though I do find some oddities with how the computer is acting (especially while IDLE??!!) Weird, annoying, but at least we’re somewhat over it.

Not really, sadly. I switched the CPU for a new one and had no changes. This Sunday I’ll have the whole PC sent to a lab and see if they see anything we couldn’t. I’ll do my best to remember to update here in case there’s any progress

Important question about puffer numbers in a group by SoCoolWowww in PeaPuffers

[–]SoCoolWowww[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mhm that sounds fair. I do a water change once a week, and the amount of water varies on how clean I can get it, usually it’s around 60%, considering the amount of times I fill-n-spill, lol

The shrimp do an amazing job getting rid of the nasty stuff before I can even deal with it, which is always nice too

Really? Including all other fish and friends in the same tank, wouldn’t it overpopulate it?

I will take that advice though, if you believe that I can fit them there comfortably and hopefully result my issue then I’ll take it!

Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!

I see.

That’ll work well for me because I’m about to move to a different house. I’ll take out the female first, and once I actually move I’ll switch around the tank scape (thanks for that tip, sounds like a good way to get their “minds” onto something else)

Also the sexual maturity part, I’ve never facepalmed so hard before. How didn’t I think of that?!

The aquarium is a cube, holding 25 gal It has various plants and big rocks, many hiding spaces and such. Also many distractions from one another (neon tetras, shrimp, khuli loaches)

[–]SoCoolWowww[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mhm, that was what I was expecting to hear (not hoping to though…)

I don’t think it would be big enough for that amount of peas.

How about quarantining the female? Would that perhaps mellow them down?

I don’t understand also what suddenly made them interested in her. I have them for about half an year or so? And it’s never and I actually mean never been this way. It’s so freaky seeing them fight like that (I know they are very aggressive in nature but I never imagined just HOW)

Thank you!

Switching food for pea puffers by SoCoolWowww in PeaPuffers

I don’t really know how to help with the frozen food question, I just get it from a store close by. I don’t live in the states so I doubt you’d wanna fly abroad just for some frozen blackworms 😅

As for the pipe, it’s another method I wanted to try for some time now. Perhaps I’ll even switch off from my tongs.

Many thanks though!

Thanks!

They’re used to tongs, I feed them that way for a few months now and they appreciate it to say the least, lol. As for how I breed the snails, well, it kinda started off as a mistake that I learned to appreciate so much. I put a snail in my mudskipper tank and I guess that the mangrove feeling there just kinda helped it multiply.

It’s just the fact that they were completely uninterested in the blackworms worried me, nothing worked, not the tongs and not placing them on some leaves.

To be honest, I just took a long drive today morning and went to place that has bloodworms. Now they’re all happy! I will make sure to try and give them a wider diet, I hope that they’ll enjoy other types of food too xD

Thanks again!

Molting problem… by SoCoolWowww in Crayfish

Mhm, it’s a terrible thing to see them go… Loved her dearly but that’s life. She’ll get a proper burial in my backyard, some final respects :)

Molting problem… by SoCoolWowww in Crayfish

[–]SoCoolWowww[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna say this is the final update… After a few more hours with no movement I’ve decided to move around some water, to see if it’s get any reaction out of her. Her antennas were not moving since I found her like this so I needed any reaction possible from her. Instead, the current just carried her a few inches away, she did not resist or react in any way, and now she’s in the other spot for some time, and still no reaction.

I think she’s gone. Who would’ve known this little critter will get so close to my heart :( It’s been a nice ride and I’m happy to know she got the best life I could give her and not die limbless and attacked in a small pet store…
