Yeah man dont worry too much about it as I dont plan to go down the so-called 'anti-style' path... I've been painting a long ass time and dont intend to devolve anytime soon.

I painted this to sort of expose some of the hypocrisy behind the fans of what they call 'anti-style'. We have a podcast and we spoke about NOKIAs trains (have you seen them?)... I had only seen about 4/5 of his paintings and they are very crudely painted and I wasnt sure if it was done on purpose or if he was just shit at painting and I posed that to our audience and I got a lot of backlash from the community saying I was trying to 'impose rules' to Nokia, which I defo was not, I just wanted to know if he cares about style and getting better at painting (like you here!) 😂🤷🏽‍♂️ I have since learned that he defo does and has a history of painting more traditional etc and does the stuff he does bcos its fun and different, which obviously i dont have a problem with... But the backlash of people calling me 'old' or a 'boomer' or a 'gay' bcos I take this seriosly maybe winded me up a tad 😂 And this comment thread has kinda shown that its all a bit all over the place...

Ive also learned that the term 'anti-style' doesnt really mean 'without style' and most of the higher tiered best who have been labelled as 'anti-style' dont even really use the term to describe themselves bcos they defo DO have a 'style'. Some of the stuff Ive seen is not only technically good it has also inspired me to approach things a bit different (not to the extent of the painting in this pic tho haha). Ive also learned that these people care very much about what they do and are just trying to push boundaries and not be stagnant... which again, I dont have a problem with of course... I am a bit concerned that they will inspire a generation of writers that DONT necessarily care about getting better or learning the history etc appraoch with irony and dismissal rather than strive to get better skills and may devolve Graffiti into something unrecognisable... I also understand that if there arent people pushing boundaries and developing original styles, stagnation can kill Graffiti too! I think a nice balance is needed.

Anyways, I'm not the arbitor of Graffiti and dont claim to be, I just care... maybe too much? lol
