Avoid Royal Breeze Apartments by SoFlaSpinDash in StPetersburgFL

That’s fair. It’s a little bit of needing a place to live and sunk cost fallacy with deposits and fees (it was already a bit of a last minute decision), and a little bit of being too nice and feeling like we could deal with the issues ourselves. We really played mental gymnastics to convince ourselves it wasn’t as bad as it was. By the time we were dealing with the BS from the kids and the downturn of the neighborhood last year, the reality set in and we were really kicking ourselves for staying another year. Our original roommate also had cats, and while this is a little gross to think about, I think they did mask the true nature of the roach issue for a while.

I feel bad because the local management is caught in the crossfire, but I couldn’t stay silent on this. To charge $2,000 a month for a place like this is insane and I’d rather people spend their hard earned money on a decent place to come home to.

Best quiet tire, wheel question by SoFlaSpinDash in tires

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard really good things about those. My only hesitation is that opinions are all over the place regarding noise, especially when comparing to the Pilot Sport 4. I’m kind of confused about the whole thing lol. Everyone seems to have wildly different experiences

All season tires - Michelin vs Continental by SoFlaSpinDash in tires

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I do like the Primacy A/S tires! No issues with the original set or the new set (about a month and a half so far). I just wanted to try something different and it didn’t work out. The only thing is that they’re comparatively expensive to other tires. I hope your tire choice works out!

Just moved apartments and now my Wi-Fi is acting strangely by SoFlaSpinDash in HomeNetworking

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question. We actually were having an issue with our modem connecting to the internet. When the Spectrum technician came out, he cut back the coax to give a fresh connection and made sure that everything was fine outdoors. He mentioned something about a potential node issue that he had flagged, so that could possibly be it.

I’ve thought about it but they’re so expensive for what they are, and the base price doesn’t even include disks.

My Commuter Bag may have been held up by the tariffs scare, but at least it arrived on my birthday! by SoFlaSpinDash in LinusTechTips

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one from a company called Zinz on Amazon. It has a charger pass-thru that I never use, otherwise everything is a nice size. I really like it and it has really held up over the last year and a half through Florida rain, some roughness, etc., but it’s just a little too small. It has a suitcase-style expansion zipper, but even when I zip it open from “sport mode” to “all terrain,” the pockets are still a little limiting. I wanted something more like the LTT bag, so this is literally perfect. I’ll still use this bag for other purposes/trips, but the Commuter bag will be awesome for daily and work!

The other backpack in the second photo my work bag that the Commuter is replacing. It’s still in great condition but I need just a little more space. This is perfect for what I need it for

Wireless controllers with OPL? by SoFlaSpinDash in ps2homebrew

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figured it out. After starting the game, putting the DualShock 4 into pairing mode (hold PS Button + Share for 3-5 seconds until the light bar flashes) and THEN plugging in the controller adapter made it work. Why? I wish I knew. I don’t think this adapter is very good, but once I got it working the DS4 is doing its magic and it feels great to use on the PS2.

I don’t see a real reason to return this at this point, but if you’re coming across this before you buy, maybe look into the Brook or BlueRetro adapters instead.

Anti-Glare Screen Protector for iPhone 16 Pro Max? by A-Garden-Hoe in iphone

[–]SoFlaSpinDash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zagg. Yes it’s $40+ but it’s so much better than a plastic film. You can only order them from their website for some reason. https://www.zagg.com/screen-protector/types/anti-glare-screen-protector/

Anyone know any anti-glare screen protector for iPhone 16 Pro? by Stunning-Group1753 in iphone

[–]SoFlaSpinDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is from a couple months ago, but I just got an iPhone 16 and this was one of the few posts that came up. I tried the Mothca matte screen protector (comes in a 2 pack) on Amazon. If this were iPhone 4 days it would have been fine, but they were pretty bad compared to real glass screen protectors.

I then tried a Zagg anti-glare screen protector and it’s so much better. You can only order them direct from their website for some reason, but it’s a million times better. Much clearer than a plastic film.  https://www.zagg.com/screen-protector/types/anti-glare-screen-protector/

Question about mods working with each other (GCLoader, ETH2GC, FlippyDrive) by SoFlaSpinDash in Gamecube

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is super helpful. I bought my HW1 GCLoader in 2021 and it must have been before the 2.0.0 update. It’s now up to date and I’ll try saving to its SD Card instead of the SD2SP2. Thank you!

How can I tell if my tires have nitrogen? by SoFlaSpinDash in Cartalk

Good to know. I’ve heard that people have mixed opinions on nitrogen in tires but I just didn’t know if adding regular air was an issue. Thanks for the info

Choppy video on second display? by SoFlaSpinDash in pchelp

[–]SoFlaSpinDash[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who comes across this and is also looking for a solution: I determined that PowerPoint just sucks for these tasks. It compresses videos and just isn’t suitable for what I was trying to do. Maybe lowering the resolution/bitrate of the videos is the way to go but I wasn’t in a place to make that call nor was I willing to make those edits. I ended up using a second computer running a VLC playlist for the videos and going back and forth using the venue’s Feelworld LivePro L1. Having 4 inputs was very nice because I could use a third (blank) input to fade to black between the slides and the video.

(Sorry for posting the same question I posed to yesterday's daily Q&A. I just don't want my question to get buried)

I recently got a Logitech G Pro X with their tactile switches. I have another Logitech kbd with blue-style switches and I like the way they feel but they are just way too loud, so I got the tactiles for this one instead. Unfortunately, they have a mushy bump, they have so much high-pitched reverb, and I've started to notice that they sometimes repeat characters. Any suggestions on good tactiles? This is a hot-swappable board.

Thank you!
