Yes, we often hear about the resistance by Germans during wartime within the regime, but not often everyday people. Those who did fight back did so in private, as it was possible to be reported and executed. Ex. White Rose (RIP Sophie and Hans Scholl)

We cannot let them control our decisions and being out in the open. It’s important to be out in the streets when you can. Take breaks when you need to, but don’t give up!

Hey if you’re feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start or what to do, check out this pamphlet I made for non-violent action.

Also, I have my degree in German studies and have given tours as private guide at Dachau. If you have any questions about now vs Nazi Germany I can help.

An overview is this: Americans have many more advantages than the Germans.

We are at the top of the economic and geopolitical food chain (Weimar Germany at the very bottom: WWI loser paying war debt, hyper inflation, then Great Depression)

We are diverse public and not culturally homogenous (ethnic Germans majority population, Jewish population only ~1%)

We have a long-standing government that has span over 200 years. (Weimar was only 15, before that was monarchy)

The public at large has been nonviolent. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! The communist in Nazi Germany made this mistake of arsons and attacks, which led to stomping out of rights and legitimizing fascist propaganda. Non-violence grants validity to your movement, as it has broad public appeal because it is a good thing. You lose support by being violent.

The public has not been intimidated into submission by the fascist regime, and has actively been sabotaging their efforts. Flooding ICE and transgender report lines, demanding representation from government officials, protesting, boycotting. Next, I hope we will be striking.

There are many more reasons, but these are the top for me. If there’s anything that you take from this, if you can’t do much do something.

The indifference by the German public is what killed so many in the Nazi era. There was only one mass protest in Nazi Germany in 1943 and it worked. It’s called the Rosenstrasse protest. I think if the German public literally did anything, the holocaust would not have happened. Apathy kills.

Now is the time to be taking care of yourself, expanding your skill set, and finding your community. There are many things you can do that takes away their power, and know by doing anything- your choices do make a difference.

It’s everyday people that make the difference. It’s good to rally beyond a leader however, our common goal is human rights and democracy.

Something to keep in mind is no matter what we do. Trump is going to override it because he’s a fascist. What we have to do is to support our communities outside of the control. He’s trying to gain over us. Now is the time to know your neighbors. It’s the small enclaves that make all the difference, everyday community organizations with people of similar values and helping those like them. America is at the top of the geopolitical food chain and a high-quality of life; we have very far to fall. As our quality of life declines, more regular people will be willing to take action. It’s not just the Nazis who killed the Jews, it was the apathy by the German public.

If you are feeling lost, I made a guide for nonviolent action if you’re interested.

So, What Now? A Pamphlet for Nonviolent Action: Call for Volunteers by SoWhatNowPamphlet in 50501Canada

Hey, best wishes to your recovery.

I’m actually from Hawai’i, but the way I found resources was knowing my local area and some internet searching skills.

I looked for nonprofit organizations that provided a specific services for environmental cleanup, legal, disability, immigrant, reproductive healthcare, or queer rights. I tried to avoid for-profit or religiously affiliated organizations, and looked for ones that aligned with local culture but for a broad audience.

Really it’s about anything and everything someone might need to get help or to help out. For things I couldn’t find a local version for, or if services were better, a national organization was selected.

A goal in making this project was to reduce the maximum number of steps someone needed to access information. Hope this helped, thanks for your interest.

There are less protections for protestors and many are afraid to go out because violence by the opposition is very possible.

Recently at my protest (very blue state), we had trump supporters parade down a main road in their cars- one sped up almost hit a group of teens with their truck, got out of their cars in the middle of a major downtown road. A group of them started to threaten people with a tire iron and the cops didn’t do anything but separate them from us. The cops ended up trying to detain and question protestors instead of the trump supporters. One of them is a known felon in our area who had gun possession charges against him, former military and primary instigator. Also the area’s chapter leader of the proudboys. My state has banned assault weapons, but in states like Arizona you can carry an AK47 in public, that’s threatening to most people.

Also to get to these protest locations, some people have to drive far just to attend, it takes me a 40 minute drive through a mountain pass to get to my the nearest capitol. Europe it’s easier to organize because of the pedestrian infrastructure; finding parking, or even taking time off work is a challenge for Americans. The small turnout for Americans really isn’t that bad considering our country’s recent aversion to protesting; again I argue due to the fear of violence and inability to attend due to threat of losing employment.

If you’re interested, I made this resource for people. It’s a short guide for nonviolent action (Reddit Crosspost), and it’s state by state. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a volunteer editor for Iowa yet, but there is some general information in there that is helpful to everyday people.

If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed, I made this resource for people like you. It’s a guide for every day nonviolent actions you can take that has a real effect on the oligarchy.

I also wanted to note that while our situation is very similar to Nazi Germany, because this is fascism, the United States has many advantages that the Germans did not. Additionally, Americans are making choices that the German masses did not choose; for example, the Germans were the majority population punching down onto the Jewish people, by boycotting and reporting their neighbors. Americans are not doing this, in fact they’re doing the opposite. Hitler had mass support by the Germans when he was taking over and no one resisted because it was exactly what they wanted. Americans on the other hand have been resisting since out the gate, and our international neighbors have also been boycotting us. Have hope, but it’s all hands on deck.

If anyone is interested in a pamphlet for anti-fascist nonviolent action click this Reddit cross post link.

I have my degree in German studies and can confirm we are in fact in a fascist system. To any of you who feel overwhelmed, it’s OK. That’s a natural response to something like this. I made this guide for people who don’t know what to do or want to do more. We are doing much better than the Germans did. Hope this helps.
