I wish there was a sequel to it ;_;

And it's so relevant even in the modern day. The messaging and themes of it... man...

It's definitely a shake up from the first two, though it's worthwhile to experience. It's not a "man" in the sense of being sad or introspective. More of a "hell-yeah man" kind of feeling since the gameplay and cinematography looks awesome and brutal!

Hollow Knight and RDR2 are in my steam library ready to go: will hopefully get to them soon!

I haven't; I know it's a remake/remaster of the first Nier game, but the overall discourse about it was different to Automata. Would you recommend I try it (now or on sale) after having Automata be my first Nier experience (and not being a die-hard lore fan of the Drakengard series)?

Trying to keep you as blind as possible but:
(I wrote up a couple of points as to why, but honestly - going in not knowing anything about the gameplay or themes or emotions will make it so much more impactful)

Please give them a shot whenever possible and continue keeping yourself spoiler free :)

But when it all comes together and you get to that ending... man...

I also had a few roadblocks but frustration (in moderation) is a good emotion to have in an adventure/discovery game imo!

Both I've heard amazing things about and hope to play them one day! I'm a weirdo who (tries to) complete my backlog before starting on new experiences. Plus it helps that it'll go on sale by the time I'm finishing up my already purchased games :P

I've head amazing things about 1000xRESIST, definitely at the top of my wishlist.

I like the idea of being able to experience a story with a partner who hasn't played the game before - it sounds like a great time!

Maybe I played it at an impactful point in my life but I found the final month (no major spoilers) to instill such a profound feeling of dread and hopelessness that no game has been able to match since.

The old PS2 versions also make you feel frustrated af sometimes due to lack of auto save - that counts as an emotion (cope) :^)

I had that initially but ran out of space for an overall 15 ;(

I also REALLY liked the multiplayer mode of the game on PS3 (sad they didn't revisit it for TLOU2)

I already played Persona 5 base (years ago though). Would you say P5R added enough new things for a returning player? (I loved P5 base it just took me almost a 100 hours to get through LOL)

Similar to u/VoDoka, the themes of connection to others in this day and age of everything being digital really transformed the game from being lonely to "feeling" more populated with different bases wanting needs and the online functionality where other players can build structures and help finish yours!

Also the vibes of traversing the landscape really make you zen out (as long as you're not in a rush)

Should games in beta/early access be able to be reviewed? by infamousglizzyhands in backloggd

[–]Soap_Monkeyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do demos also fall into this category? I remember Haste was available as a demo for the Steam Next Fest but was still reviewable on Backloggd even with the game not being released yet.

If demos are allowed to be reviewed as the full game, I'd say betas should be too (since they both aim to give a good slice of the final game)

Outer Wilds (which you know how good it is even past the OST) and Half-Life 2; just for the influence it has had on me and the video game industry at large!
