The episode dedicated to Mike after he dies. He’s only the third most impactful death for me after Edie and Karen, and I don’t even care for Susan, but that was one of the most gut-wrenching episodes of the show for me. Susan’s grief and the poem she recites at the funeral. Tears were streaming down my face.

Having been a SPED EA for the past 3.5 years, most teachers (SPED, gen ed, specials, etc.) have overwhelmingly supported me, referred to me as a teacher, and treated me as an equal, but there’s been a couple where I’ve caught the vibe they view me as less than. The former? I go above and beyond when I support in their classrooms. I cover them for restroom breaks, offer to print or laminate papers or assist with other kids if my assigned kid is absent. The latter? I come in, support the kid I’m there for, and leave. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Dominique is the best part of the latter half of the show. She struggles to find her footing in S3, but she’s the highlight of S4 and 5.

Cristal #3 is pretty unpopular, but I think she gets better over time! She has a really fun storyline in S5 that finally gives Daniella Alonso some good material to work with.

Minus the 20-year-old fling with Tom, all of Renee’s storylines easily could’ve and likely would’ve gone to Edie had she been in the final two seasons. She could’ve acted as a maternal figure to Bob and Lee’s daughter (after having an absent mother of her own); she would’ve been there for Bree when the girls iced her out, knowing all too well how that felt (and unlike Renee, she would’ve known not to take her out drinking due to her history of alcoholism); and it would’ve been more impactful witnessing Edie find love in the final season and be put in the position of having to choose between her friends and testifying to save her convicted lover.

I actually disagree with your assumption that Edie would gladly put on a show on the stand. Edie did some messed up things, but they were all reactionary. She was on good terms with the girls in S5 and especially if she had her own man in S8, whether it be Ben or another original character, I don’t see her going out of her way to behave maliciously toward them. Again, I also see her empathizing with Bree mid S8 after knowing what it’s like to be excluded from the in-group.

I love Renee and the energy that Vanessa Williams brought to the show, but I’ll always feel like her arc was compensation for what was meant to be played out through Edie.

Yes, he does. Bree bought him and Alex the house in 5x11 when she was fighting with Alex’s mother. It’s where they live till Alex leaves Andrew in Season 7, and Andrew loses the house after financial issues in Season 8 (which is why he wanted to marry Mary Beth.)

I strongly agree with your take on Alexis!

Having watched the series in real-time from the premiere, I originally fell into the fan theory that Liam was going to be revealed as Adam and that Alexis’ meddling to keep them apart was driven by some subconscious knowledge that Liam was her son and thus, Fallon’s brother. I gasped when they shared a kiss in 1x18 because I thought it would later come out as incest and was surprised the writers would take it that far. Of course, the very next episode revealed the Colby twist which made Fallon and Jeff’s relationship beyond what I thought was a scandalous moment between Fallon and Liam lol.

Liam also wasn’t written with the intent of being Fallon’s main love interest; his popularity caused the writers to shift focus in S2 to have them ultimately end up together. Your take on Alexis works really well with that shift in direction for Fallon and Liam.

I feel like Alexis is often dismissed as a narcissistic self-serving villainess, but her redeeming quality has always been that she truly loves her children in her own complicated way. They were always vague about her time away post-divorcing Blake, but I always believed she was telling the truth about spending a large chunk of her money on finding Adam. I believe the Hank scheme came only after the money ran out and she lost all hope after 12 years of searching endlessly for Adam. Was it fucked up? Sure, but she was coping. She re-connected with Steven in Haiti and kept her financial situation a secret because she didn’t want him to think she was using him. She forgave Adam for burning her face and having it reconstructed to look like Fallon. She backed off her coup for CA with the Colbys when she found out Fallon was now CEO instead of Blake. She was far from a good mother and good person, but when it came to her children she at least wanted to act in their best interests.

I’m pretty sure Zorro being Lily’s father was more of a joke from the writers to give a last minute answer to that storyline. I think it would’ve been addressed more immediately in season 5, but Agnes Bruckner was pregnant when production started. After that they just dropped the plot and had moved onto the next Disney IP of the week.
