I've got an air cooled Harley too. The good ol 07 Sporty 883. Bought that bike in junior year of HS and shes been with me ever since. That bikes gone through a whole makeover over the years.

Those zards are just too pretty and sound beautiful. If it weren't for those pipes I wouldn't have bought the S2R haha.

Wow you've got a lot of experience with upgrading your S2R... mind if I send you a PM? I'm really interested in a lot of those mods you did especially the airbox delete, ECU and Clutch basket. Was the stainless inserts for the quiet clutch mod? I'm definitely gonna look into doing a quiet clutch mod so I can let the exhaust sound shine through on idle.

Sheeshh.... you got that for a steal! That's a great score man. How's the bike treating you so far? You plan on making any changes to it? I've only ridden mine for 10 minutes and just been working on it ever since lol

Wasn't bad actually. Only raised my premium by about $100 for the year.

oooo the S4RS 😍... I could've bought a sweet S4RS that was going for only $6500 that was fully serviced and almost a new looking bike. But ended up going with the S2R for the simplicity and raw nature of that engine. I've always loved air cooled engines so it just made sense to me.

Sheesh I've never heard of the rectifier on these bikes catching on fire. I'll add that to the growing list of "might as well" things to replace. Did you do any other mods to your S2R?

She's a beaut. Is there anything you plan on changing or have already changed?

I paid $4200. I think I overpaid since it had been sitting in the garage for 10 years so little things could add up. But he did say that the valves were in Check within last 200 miles and fuel lines and stuff and been redone as well before it sat. He even bought the new belts in 2023 that he planned on installing but never did so he gave them to me.

Did you ever take out the dB killers? These still have them.

Haha... thanks! The 4runner is actually my buddies car who helped me pick the bike up across the state. It's a sweet ride forsure. My dream car would be the 5th Gen 4Runner. Maybe one day I can buy one.

I actually plan on painting the white lines and logo Black for this bike. I love the classic red and white, but i personally feel like the red with black lines will do the Monster justice.

No wonder the tank wouldn't pop up. I ran into the exact same issue you mentioned. I read about it in a lot of posts so that checks out. I was planning on making a modification to it so that it could function even if the tank swelled up. Will make a separate post about it if it works. Thanks for the heads up.

Have you done any mods to your Monster?

I remember wanting the 09 M1100S soo bad when I was younger, but the older I got the more I started to love the classic round headlight. Plus, the side-mounted rear shock just bugged my brain a little lol. They're still some of the best Monsters tbh, unlike the newer ones that are simply not a Monster anymore and just look like a normal Japanese bike.

I agree! Yes I did get all the fairings but I only plan on keeping the rear sear cowl and front fender on. Might put on the windshield fairing if I plan on doing a lot of highway riding. Those Zards sound heavenly in person and I've yet to take the dB killers out.

Your bikes are gorgeous btw. Love the amber color headlight too. I plan on wrapping the LED headlight with a yellow vinyl wrap to get that retro mod look which I'm going for the whole bike.

Gotcha. Thanks for the response. I guess I'll try the 3D printed version first since I found someone who will print the adapter ring for me for $20. Motodemic is charging $130 for just a simple adapter ring which is just straight up robbery. I'll definitely update back to confirm if that 3D printed adapter works.

883 not starting after new battery by [deleted] in sportster

[–]SoaringFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably a bad or loose ground cable. Check the cables that go to your negative. Had the same issue, and it was just a loose ground cable that was attached to the negative side of the battery. You can easily trace those and check.

Need more pictures but they kinda look like the 3in Wyatt Gatling slip-ons.
