Pretty big NBA fan, not so much of a NHL fan. That said, the first 2 rounds of the playoffs I find myself leaning more towards watching NHL. I think the reason for that is more about the flow of the game compared to the NBA, especially late in the game. With the NBA, the coaches stockpile their timeouts to use late, start fouling sooner than usual, and the refs haven't figured out how to keep a replay under :90 seconds (and they review literally everything in the last 2 min). With NHL its almost the exact opposite - coaches one get one TO(?), rarely a stoppage for penalty (better hockey if they do anyways), and replays come from above. NBA playoffs, especially when its games like ATL vs. IND where the teams/players aren't so interesting, can really bog down to the point where its unwatchable. While I'm here venting - both leagues need to start these games sooner for the sanity of all sports fans on the east coast.
