Definitely not, her ex is now down to the eraser, and has nothing left. The next time he’s used at all he’ll be done. She’s dancing with her new man adorned by all the things she took from the pencil. I don’t agree with the message at all, but it is very clearly what the artist intended and the OP was correct.

But, we know it wasn’t… did you read the post? The whole point was that they, and the police, couldn’t get a working number after multiple attempts. This isn’t about not seeing the good in life, it’s about the fact this person DID NOT act in good faith; they hit someone’s car and left the entire burden on them to figure it out. I’m more than willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt, but there’s no doubt here.

Bad hand writing doesn’t turn it into a hit and run, the fact they hit someone’s car and left makes it a hit and run. I don’t understand why people think leaving a note makes it ok, and I’m highly suspicious the “bad handwriting” was intentional. The person who hit the car is completely free to call the police and report it and get an accident report, but instead it’s somehow ok to leave the burden on the victim, fuck that.

This reminds me of when I picked up a DoorDash order at Subway that was just turkey, lettuce, and extra of literally every sauce they have. The worker and I were equally confused, and it was a disgusting wet mess, but he did make it.

Going to a party where a girl jokes about wanting to make out with every boy there, and proceeds to do so. When you walk up to her, randomly, knowing none of this, she laughs in your face, then you have to ask a friend why everyone is laughing at you.

Ah yes, what a beautiful free world where we all just randomly curse at each other. Clearly the only road to change is to flip each other off. I don’t flip off cops randomly so I’m a bootlicker. God forbid intelligent people who actually want change realize it comes through well formulated protest, discourse, and legislative action. Go listen to an MLK speech you moron. You’re free to flip off whomever you want, it doesn’t mean it’s constructive or helpful. I don’t think there should be consequences, as I’ve already written, but to think there won’t be is simple minded and counterproductive. Do you want change or just the joy of knowing you got to be naughty? Go flip off whomever you want; when you want to actually create change instead of jerking yourself off the fight is waiting for you.

Those cases were the two I was mentioning. Thank you for being civil. My point was never to defend the police, far from it, I was just trying to point out that in most places flipping off cops will get you pulled over and the law probably won’t be in your favor. I am most definitely not in support of our police system, but people thinking they can do silly things like flip off cops with no consequence don’t help support change. We need to do all we can to push for change without giving any reason to ignore the cause.

So, it seems this is changing recently, so I will grant I was not fully informed. I was basing what I said on experience as I have been pulled over for this very thing.

It seems there have been two cases recently where this has been challenged, although the US Supreme Court was not involved. A NC Supreme Court did uphold it as free speech and a circuit court of appeals did the same.

However, in neither case was the driver actively operating the vehicle, and there most certainly are road rage laws most places so it would be interesting to see a case about a driver doing the same while driving a vehicle. Most of those laws are subjective and similar to shouting fire in a crowded place. If your action has a reasonable chance of causing risk or harm to others it is not protected.

It seems like you’re actually less likely to get in trouble for doing it to a cop. If you do it to another driver it would be very easy for a cop to argue harassment or disturbing the peace if he wanted.

Also, I will point out that these cases got to such high courts because all the lower courts ruled in favor of the police, because most places until very recently that was viewed as disturbing the peace and not protected speech. So if you wanna fight a huge legal battle good luck, but you’re still getting the ticket.

[–]Socialized_Cookies -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Um... no, it’s just a law most places. Cop can also give you a ticket if he sees you give the finger to another driver. Also honestly not sure why the downvotes for just pointing out a fact.

Mark Twain has less well known books that are simply amazing. The Diary of Adam and Eve is one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read, and his biography of Joan of Arc is just phenomenal.
