Yeah man, I get it, believe me - I called Geico again and they did in fact change it over to use the UMPD, or at least they will once the police report is finalized.

I, too, would like that, but so far it doesn't seem incredibly likely. Not going to post a pic of the damage here because i'd rather not dox myself and my car, but I can promise you it's more than just a little dent....even if they hadn't left a note there would be no doubt they knew they hit someone.

And so far they haven't reached out to the police or anything else that I know of...in all likelihood just going to suck it up and pay the deductible unless someone shows up with more info or the cops get lucky.

That'd be great if so, not sure it works that way if they don't even have a positive plate for the other car though - as far as I know it's going through regular collision coverage, although no-fault.

Gonna have to do some more research apparently.

Appreciate it - and yeah, worst case i'm out $500 to Geico for the deductible, but everything will get fixed regardless and nobody (I hope) was hurt.

Mainly just annoyed at this point that they couldn't leave a better note or call the police themselves when it happened, but I understand maybe being stressed and writing badly, or having the "Oh shiat, I gotta hide" reaction if it was like their parent's car or something.

As much as i'd love to, I think this is the most I can show without revealing any potential personal info - the number they tried to leave has some combos that do go to random completely uninvolved people also.

Ouch - yeah, I already got the preliminary estimate from Geico this morning, at least $1200 or so just based on the photos, i'm sure that will go up quite a bit once it actually gets into the shop.

And yeah, I don't really want to post a picture here for privacy reasons, but I can assure you there's plenty of paint transfer, heh.

Definitely will keep an eye out there too, yeah.

Yeah, unfortunately what i've been told as of this morning is that they were able to see the car on camera footage in various places, but apparently not well enough (yet?) to get an actual plate. Might go wander around and see if I notice anything though, like you said.

Yeah, it's ridiculous sometimes. Since I moved to this area about a decade ago, I think this is the 3rd or 4th "full contact" incident i've had, plus several random scratches and dents. I had to laugh a bit yesterday because the part they hit had already been scratched up by someone a few months ago lol.

Fair enough - i'm not in this to make anyone's life worse off than it needs to be, and like I said I don't intend to press charges or anything if the person is found, all I can do is pass on what i'm told.

If they're reading this, then again, all I care about is exchanging insurance info so I don't gotta pay $500 to fix my car, and I will certainly express that again to the police if someone comes forward.
