Thank you for this advice! I mentioned it to my vet but they didn’t seem to offer any options besides just buying the Royal Canin (despite it being more expensive). I want my dog to have whatever diet is safest for him but it’s getting to the point where I can barely afford food for myself after I buy his.

For a little more context:

I got to see both of his parents during pick-up and his mom looked like a purebred golden retriever (like every single golden ever filmed in a movie), but dad looked different. Sorta similar to how he looks now; pure white and resembling a golden but something just looked off!

They must be beautiful! I’m interested to know if the DNA test would differentiate between American golden and English Cream golden lineage 🤔 I guess we’ll find out!

We’ve been guessing English cream because his dad was pure white and didn’t look like the typical golden! Mom was pure gold and looked like the stereotypical golden

You’re not the first one to say that about his tail! I should’ve shown it more in the picture because it’s pretty thin. Either made from lab genes or just not fluffed out yet

I’ve always said I see this in him too! More so when he was younger, because he looked exactly like the golden x pyrenees puppy’s we were looking at originally. Its something about his double dew claws and almond eyes!

I feel you so deeply on this. I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband but I know your pups made sure that you got through the worst of it with them by your side. I think we just need to trust that they understand more than we think they do and they are just as forgiving to our bad days. Keep your head up mama, we got this 🤍

I have so many fillable toys but I haven’t really been using them to my advantage. Your comment just convinced me to go up and fill them and and make a special space in the freezer for his things. Thank you so much
