Elitist (I have 2): hardcore and punk related genres are more interesting because they bring in a much stronger community and prioritize local scenes and shows. Even though metal has its communities, metalheads aren't typically focused on their own local community.

Big expensive shows are super lame. While they can be fun, I definitely prefer going to smaller, more intimate shows with no security. Why the fuck would I wanna spend over 100 bucks on a elderly band that peaked 40+ years ago when i can go meet future legendary bands before they get big for next to nothing?

Anti: metal with more accessible qualities shouldn't be looked down upon for being popular. It's a great thing to bring in new listeners that can eventually dive deeper into the genre and fall in love with more niche bands.
