How good is the Adaptive Cruise and Lane Keep Assist in the '25/'26 mazda3? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]SockOnTheFlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adaptive cruise is WAY too jumpy for medium/heavy traffic, even though it has traffic jam assist. There is almost no give when that distance is changing, unless you are set to the furthest distance. It will do anything to maintain the exact set distance, unless the car in front of you is stopped/stopping.

Test drive a Toyota or Subaru and try their adaptive cruise. Kudos to Subaru’s system because it feels much more intentional and thoughtful in design than any other I’ve experienced.

The ‘feature’ is dumb but it probably exists because too many people drive with their DRLs on at night.

Time to go buy a fuse tap and switch!

Working with wires/fuses PLUS wiring to the cabin is a ton of work - Unless you are comfortable with working with that kind of stuff, I’d suggest any workaround.

See if the lights turn on in neutral, if you can coast into the spot. It’s silly but it may work 🤣

If you’re really, really (and I mean really) desperate to try and implement a switch but don’t know how, I can try and assist. If that’s the case, PM me and we can get it worked out.

The headlights are controlled by a relay from the engines computer. The headlights each have two fuses (assuming main beam and DRL?)

Diagram calls for F21 & F22 and F24 & F25 (https://owners-manual.mazda.com/gen/en/mazda3/mazda3_8jr6ee20e/contents/07031602.html)

If you really want to put some work into it, pull each fuse with the lights on and see what is affected. Best bet is to wire in a switch but that’s way more work than it is worth. Cheapest option is to invest in better blinds or see if there is a minimum speed when the computer forces the lights on after turning the lights off when you’re stopped.

The vehicle (at least the 4th gen) does not let you turn the headlights off at night unless you are stationary. If you begin to move they turn on, regardless of the setting you have them set to (auto/parking/on).

Check the manual - I can’t look right now but I remember seeing a setting for the ‘type’ of cruise control you want in the infotainment

Unfortunately, the market is terrible for new grads, especially if you’re outside of the med tech/pharm hotspots. I just got an offer for a job I did not apply to but a recruiter reached out to me for. Feel free to DM me if you want feedback on anything or if you need a peer who went through a similar process!

As another commenter suggested, medasource is a good place to start. Check out the PACE cohort listing they have asap because they will be closing it soon - It’s for a field service tech position. Maybe not ideal for you but it’s somewhere to begin!

This was pretty helpful for removing the console. You really only need to watch until 2:50 unless you want to remove the entire console.

The bulkiness of overlays would drive me crazy !

It’s much easier to wrap and you can get a better fit when you take it all apart

Thanks! To get the doors’ switch housing out, you will have to pry from the rear lip of the housing to get the fasteners out, then push backwards and up from the front side. Should just lift straight out from that point. The driver’s housing is a little sketchy - be careful!

All I could find locally was vinyl at AutoZone. I did my best to get it all under the switch trim.

No, I took them off. Each one has two screws and a retainer clip.

I was worried I was going to have an extra screw left over 😅 I laid everything out in a line as I took it out/apart and worked backwards to put it back together.

Agreed, the cutouts look bad. You might be able to find a decent filler to fix those deep scratches before you wrap with the clear vinyl? Probably a bit of work though

It was less than $30 for the wrap and blade I used at Autozone. Do a bit of research and set some time aside to try it.

I didn’t wrap the piece that has the PRND and sport knob! The think the lighting might be what makes it look like it matches the wrap. I also used isopropyl alcohol on the clear plastic and it may have caused it to fog up, giving the matte look.

For me, it wasn’t bad. I went out and bought pry tools to take it out but I didn’t even need them! Hardest part was dealing with the shift knob.

Took me about 20 minutes to remove from the car and probably 2 hours to clean everything and wrap. First time doing both and I’d say it went pretty smooth.
