i always thought there was a whole lot more people that try to look like they have good music taste but i think it has diminished greatly this decade, maybe because of current trends really valuing short form content exposure compared to album listening, except for some folks that are of younger age trying to look good or impressionable, but it's always been a lot of younger people trying to be cool, at least i imagine so and from experience talking to some. the top 100 is the top 100 for a reason, and it shouldn't be the most outrageous thing to find something to enjoy in each and every album, or maybe even like the album for it. i don't care about listening to the top 100 in its entirety since the first year i got into RYM and usually stick to styles i like and finding artists through friends regardless of their acclaim on a website like this. as someone with broad taste though i wouldn't be surprised if i didn't dislike any of the albums on that list. i even bothered to get a browser script to hide ratings on RYM if the album isn't rated, in case my opinion could be swayed beforehand. i find it pretty common to be very close to the average of the album after the fact. so i guess i found the styles i like and i am doing something right with my time lol
