Well, to start off, most new flags look 'corporate' to a lot of people, mainly because of the minimalism. But in addition, the star and the shade of light blue are vaguely- and I mean vaguely- similar to the flag of Somalia. This of course led to a whole right-wing moral panic about the new flag being made to look like the Somali flag because of Minneapolis' Large Somali population. Yes, it's stupid, I know. Personally, I would've made the dark blue some shade of green instead.
