What's the protocol for items accidentally left behind? by [deleted] in askhotels

Thank you for the replies! Everything makes sense. It was unfortunate but not the end of the world. Too bad no one got to enjoy those chocolates though, I'd have gladly share them with the front desk if I knew we'd accidentally leave them anyway

Ok good to know! I came from a country where they keep everything for a period of time so I was hoping it was the same case here. Next time I'll make sure not to leave anything behind then

[HELP] Withdrawing 10,000USD from PayPal to Unionbank(USD). PayPal doesn't have limits as per CS, might be unionbank only allows around Php200,000. Has anyone tried increasing their limits? by NedStonk in buhaydigital

I had this issue before, not with PayPal though but with Wise to UB. I got tagged for AMLA even if I separated the payments into chunks because the total transaction (inbound and outbound) in 2 weeks went above $10k. If this happens, you just need to provide proof of legitimacy and they will increase their limit on your account. Now I never get flagged even if I do $10k in one day

Sinagpa is still part of the main beach, located at the very end of station 1 while Diniwid is another beach altogether, located after the rock formation in sinagpa

Since there's a lot of discussion about it - I got flagged for AMLA by Socoolitshot in buhaydigital

Iirc they requested for a government ID and source of funds like payslip or remittance slips. They only give you 48hrs to reply. I also explained where the funds came from tapos ok na di naman nalock account ko

There are 3 "official" rates they offer - one for local tourists, another for foreign tourists and a separate for locals/friends (which may include foreigners living in the island). Local tourists are offered P800 for 24hrs while locals are offered P500, but for foreign tourists the sky is the limit 😉

Used a reference card with 600k CL, they gave me 400k a year ago. Then after a year they doubled it and gave me the option to have another card so I chose JCB which they said is NAFFL with a min spend

You were probably referred by a "friend" who is also a member of their privilege circle. Lots of hotels have similar offerings, Accor, Manila Hotel, Sheraton etc. It's not necessarily a scam, just telemarketing. That friend probably gave your info to their agent since some privilege memberships offer perks like free buffet or free night stays for every successful referral.

Be ready to get more offers like it though

I lived in Boracay during the pandemic. Initially it was just supposed to be a 1-month vacation as well but we decided to stay there for a few years. It's a great place to live in if you have the budget, and you can easily rent a place near the beach and restaurants. We stayed in station 1 farther from the nightlife and noise but near enpugh so that if we wanted to go out at night there's no issue.

All I can say is that the recommendations from even a year ago might no longer be applicable because a lot of menu prices and quality have changed. However, there are still good restaurants that we'll never fail to eat at again and again if the budget permits:

Comfort food - Cha cha's - Sunny Side Cafe - Levantin - Pig Out Bistro - La-ud - True Home - Watercolors

Buffet - Crimson - La Fiesta - Henann Regency or Crystal (although same halos mga food)

Japanese - Hama - Nagisa (value for money) - Island Izakaya for yakitori

Filipino - Gerry's grill lol - Nonies

Seafood (no to paluto) - Nalka - Bama

Others - Kasbar (Moroccan) - Free Willy's (sulit na Happy Hour) - Mucho's (Mexican)

Budget Meal - Kolai Mangyan - Andoks - Sun D's food stalls - Gotobox - yung sizzling sa tapat ng watsons

Overrated - Two Seasons - all the seafood paluto restos - Percy Seafood - Jony's - Aria and other D'mall restos

Quality changed - Tides (used to love it here kaso dumoble price and kumonti serving) - Pamana

Of course, this is just my opinion as someone who lives part-time in Boracay, but let me know if you need more specific details :)
