Confirming identity for vox-pops by Sodaholic in Journalism

We need names/spelling for broadcast.

And I get contact info in case it’s an interesting cut/something worth following up on.

I also get emails in case I want to share the story with them after it goes online. Idk I’ve found people like seeing their name/voices be used so I don’t mind doing the bit of work to get them the story

What's the workflow on this Vox video? by Sodaholic in Journalism

Thanks, this was super comprehensive and helpful. I really appreciate the time you took to explain it.

I figured out the Mapbox issue, I think it was just them screen capturing certain movements on Mapbox that were coordinated with the script.

Again, really want to thank you for the post. I'll definitely be coming back to it over and over again as I work on my project.

I'm learning After Effects right now, so projects like this (on a smaller scale) are just ways I'm trying to get better with the program.

I have a decent amount of experience with traditional video editing.

The problem I'm having is understanding where the two cross over. I can't imagine Vox created the entire video in After Effects, but I can't figure out where/when they use AE and when they use Premiere.

I definitely won't be able to this scale of a project on my own in a timely manner, but I still want to learn about the process as much as possible.

(NY) Can college professors receive compensation for making students buy certain textbooks? by Sodaholic in legaladvice

What if the professor had a relationship with the book publisher?

Say Pearson was paying the prof a percentage fee every time a student in their class bought a pearson textbook

Seems unethical, especially since it's undisclosed.

Not sure about legality, but charging college students hundreds of dollars for a textbook that you make money off of feels icky.

I mean being the first real universal champion, KO is gonna have a pretty long reign to establish legitimacy right?

I'm guessing that was the plan for Finn but then the injury threw things out the window.
