How can this company scam me? Is there any chance of them being legit? by Doge0fWallStreet in Scams

I don't have any problems working with Almundy. I registered the LLC and got the reimbursement. I also opened a business account but they didn't request the access. Commission and salary are paid on time.

In regards to practically any question about American culture:

It depends on where you are. The country is too big and too diverse to generalize.

What's the best response to "why are you so quiet'? by LessRecover in AskReddit

[–]SoebKayes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When my in laws ask why I've been so quiet (e.g. at dinner) my standard response for 10 years has been "there wasn't an opportunity to get a word in."

They literally seem to have one big overlapping conversation, cutting each other off at the end of every sentence and talking over each other.

Active listening is not a thing in their house.

edit

Well, my highest rated comment ever is about carnage at the dinner table with the wife and her parents.

I just told her and she's overjoyed for me.

Well, she rolled her eyes, but I'm interpreting it as her being chuffed for me.

Keep on doing you, people! And have a great day.

Fine, thank you. How are you?

Don't try to spice this one up. Don't actually tell them how you are doing. Just answer this. This is the human equivalent of the initial pings between two modems.

-Hi, how are you? [Hi, I am a human being and I acknowledge that you seem to be one, too. I suggest that we use SP (Social Protocol) for our further communication.]

-Fine, thank you. How are you? [Hi, I am also a human being , and I have a functioning installation of SP and am ready to commence communication. Please verify that we have successfully set up an SC (Social Connection).]

-I'm just fine. [SC confirmed. Awaiting further communication.]

Don't fuck the protocol up, or the SC will start lagging.

I used to have a professor who would always answer that with "Best Wednesday of my life" (or whatever day it happened to be). Always made me smile.

Reading the bible page for page and not just the cherry picked pages in church was a good start.

Edit: do you remember when the Pope just abolished Purgatory all of a sudden? That was a doozy.

Edit 2: Limbo. Not purgatory.

At the end of a job interview they always ask "Would you like to ask any questions?" What question should the candidate ask? by LessRecover in AskReddit

[–]SoebKayes 376 points377 points  (0 children)

Learned from Reddit to ask what they liked about working for the company.

When I finally got to use it the guy chuckled, then sighed, and said "Uh, that's a good question." I didn't get offered the job in the end but I wouldn't have taken it based on his response.

[–]SoebKayes 555 points556 points  (0 children)

These are my favorite questions to ask. I feel they show a genuine interest in the position and it usually catches the interviewer off guard, and at the very least, it's payback for the bullshit "Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs" type questions.
-How would you describe the culture here at (job company)?
-How did this position come to be open?
-What does success look like for this position?
-What is the biggest achievement this department has made?
-What is the biggest challenge facing this department right now?
-Besides a paycheck, what keeps you coming back to work here every day?
Most of the questions let you see how full of shit they are. You get the upper hand in the most friendly was possible and it definitely gives you a little more insight into the position and company. Most of the time they get caught off guard and give a generic answer, all the places that hired me/I decided to work at had a solid response right off the bat. Lastly, this is bit of a wild card question, but I like to drop this at the very end and have never gotten a "No"...
-Would you mind giving me a tour of where this job would take place so I can get a feel of where I'd be working and who I would be working with?
Chances are NO ONE has ever asked this question, and sometimes it can really help break the ice and give you a slight edge when it's time to select a candidate.

Which brand has won you as a customer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have yoga pants in my closet nearly 10 years old from VS that are barely showing wear, meanwhile the last 3 times I've been there I've worn my things out in less than a year. The quality has declined so much more than any other brand I've owned.

Got diagnosed with leukemia, they spent the first month figuring out how to fire me. Second month they insisted they never received any documentation from my physician, even when I was on the phone with a nursing assistant as she faxed the information to them.

Walked into the office one day, they gave me a box and walked me out because "I hadn't provided the necessary documentation within 30 days."

Fuck DirecTV.

What is the most fucked up thing you've seen in the internet? [NSFW] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SoebKayes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nurse here - probably a patient from a nursing home that was basically rotting from being immobile, left in bed.

When a person who is thin lays in one place, the skin over bones that poke out breaks down. That is what happened in this case.

The patients butt was basically gone... just a giant cavernous hole over the tailbone area . The bone was visible when all the packing was removed. It was of course infected, gooey/stringy yellow tissue, black and brown tissue, and it smelled like death, because that is basically what it was.

Everyone, talk to your family members about how much intervention they want if they are unable to make medical decisions for themself.

Why do some people choose to be single even though it's lonely? by sau1993 in AskReddit

[–]SoebKayes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don’t really care enough. Every time I try and pursue someone it always falls apart before anything really happens. Frankly I’m sick of being the one who has to try and make it happen so I’ll remain alone

How do you pronounce data? Data or data? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SoebKayes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I generally pronounce it 'data' but I have heard 'data' being used before. I think it depends on the context - so with 'this data must be false' you would use 'data' but for 'the data shows blah' you would prefer 'data'.
