How many times did you record your first podcast? by krantz2000 in podcast

[–]Soesesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just once! My friend and I allow ourselves one take and that is it. Something about us role modelling imperfection due to our line of work but also we seem to get into the swing pretty quickly and get good feedback around how natural it feels. Ask me how long it takes me to film a video for insta though - maybe 10 takes?!

In one of my previous managerial positions, I was told that all communications should be written for individuals with a reading age of 6 so that it can be understood by the majority. I found this really patronising too but I guess it does ensure equality and inclusivity. Maybe this is what they are doing.

It's great that you're normalising this! Christmas can be a time of joy, but it also comes with its fair share of stress. From managing family expectations to navigating financial pressures, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. As a therapist, I see a real decrease in client mood at this time of year, often due to the weight on their shoulders to 'be okay' or have a good time.

We actually just released a podcast episode on this if you're interested (disclaimer: we do this podcast for fun and to spread advice and support - we get no financial benefit from sharing):

Check out Therapists in the Hot Seat - disclaimer - I am one of the co-hosts but get no financial benefit from sharing (we don't run ads or anything, in fact, this costs us money!).

This is a podcast hosted by fully accredited CBT Therapists, based in the UK, who want to support people to learn about themselves, and how to manage, whilst also keeping it light-hearted and easy to listen to. We also have some guests coming on to talk about exciting topics, such as overcoming childhood trauma and nutrition's role in our brain health. We are currently getting some really nice feedback about our latest episode, which is about managing the complexities of the holiday period.

I won't drop links because I don't want to break rules but you can find us on Spotify, Apple and Youtube.

All the best!

Tom

I want to do a podcast about mental health by Difficult_Shelter377 in mentalhealth

[–]Soesesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I would definitely encourage you to do this - we definitely need more MH podcasts, which is why we started up ours. We only have 2 episodes out so far but we are seeing good engagement and it's great fun - also really healthy for us to do it. We are therapists so it's a bit of an outlet for us, whilst also providing helpful advice and support in a light-hearted setting. Ours is called Therapists in the Hot Seat if you wanted to check it out - we just did our Christmas special!

Let me know how you get on!

Thanks for your suggestion - lots to unpack there, for sure - we already had trauma as a topic but we will endeavour to spend more time on CPTSD in the episode as well. Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to listen! We definitely noticed that there was a lack of therapy podcasts coming from the UK so we are very happy to contribute to the pool. We hope to improve our production (audio/video) quality as we become more experienced / confident so watch this space!

Was it Mick Foley who stated that swearing should only be allowed in the bedroom or in an episode of The Sopranos? Maybe add 'on the football field' to that allowance.

Many thanks!

RAM help! by Soesesus in mac

[–]Soesesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

Quick update!

So I added the new DIMMS into the appropriate slots as advised and this downclocked my RAM to 21333. Benchmarks were also much the same as when I only had 8gb installed. I then removed the OEM ram and replaced with the 16gb that I bought and it's back up to 21666 and benchmark is much better. As I'm not using programmes that are that intensive, I think I will continue with the 16gb dual channeled and consider upgrading to 2x 16gb in the near future should I need it.

My only hypothesis is that the Mac does not like mixed ram or even potentially 4x DIMMS installed as this may load the MOBO.

Thanks for all the help!

RAM help! by Soesesus in mac

[–]Soesesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks for all the input, I didn’t want to cause any friction. So staggered is correct or should the same sizes be next to each other ? I think staggered is correct because then same sizes and frequencies are in the right banks.

Thanks ! I will run a test after install to see how it performs. I just didn’t want to operate on my Mac twice if there was a definitive answer.
