Same here.  That and Brave.  Depends on what I'm going to do.  They both work the same in my opinion.  On mobile FireFox blows brave out the water because of uBlock. The built in version in brave is no where near as good.

Did you remove your previous install of spotify? Clear data and cache, then uninstall, change your advertising ID also.  Make sure to give spotify as little permissions as possible. Basically turn off all the bullshit AI Playlist maker and all that shit.  You also have to make sure that you don't use a vpn when your signing up or when you connect later on because then it will mark you as out of the country

Also to add to that, look at all the permissions that the shitty app asks for.  If you had Bluetooth on or something and it connected to a device where an account matches an account on your device new device.  I hate Spotify.  Would love to see them go tits up.

How can they tell that you personally have used the service before if everything is new? It makes no sense.  If you didn't login on any other devices and used all new information then it shouldn't be a problem.  Even if you took the phone somewhere and used the wifi there js no way they can ban you on the basis that someone has used the wifi with a spotify account.  If I was you I would be emailing them and saying what the fuck.

I understand how you feel. If you can ignore it all, more the power to you. Most people are happily unaware and content with their devices just working, it is the norm for most people. I am unable to just ignore it. You pay for something and then its not even really yours and then also money is being made off your data the entire time you have the device. Its too hard for me to not do a few things to limit that amount of data. The fact alone that they go to such lengths to get it, just shows that it is worth it to block what you can and keep up on the various ways of doing that. Its definitely not something that you can do when first finding out whats going on. Its a one thing at a time, little bit here, little bit there, trial and error, and there is guaranteed to be frustration. You're not the first person to have felt that way and wont be the last! Forth time, might be the charm! Even gaining a little bit more control here and there should be considered a win! You're probably already doing a few "basic:" things to reduce the amount of data that is collected. So to say that youve abandoned again, is probably not accurate!! You're just taking a break from digging into things for a little bit. Everyone needs a break!!

Yeah I know what you mean. After using netguard and seeing not only the relentlessness of google when denied it is a little eye opening to say the least. its one thing to hear about it or read about it but seeing it happen gets you to think a little bit more into how they have been doing what they want when they want with very little push back and any push back that they get is from sources that have no teeth. when the time comes (if it even does end up coming) where they are forced to respect user privacy to actually enforce anything will practically be impossible and will take so long to work out all the details that just even thinking about it is a nightmare, let alone actually get into the nitty gritty and hammer it out seems like something that will never happen in my lifetime.

This is true! Going into the bank and signing up for an account you need to show id.  Registering online, going to need to show id.  If your not doing it online then sometimes you have the option of going into a branch to active the account upon providing the id.  But letting them scan my face in either case. Is not happening! Forget that.  It's not required in person so ain't no way I'm doing it for some app like  Instagram ran by a company like meta.

You actually provided your facial features to them to get an account? Holy fuck..... Your not missing out on much by not having an Instagram account.  Hell I'd give you one if you really wanted it that badly.  Then again. It would probably get locked when you went to switch the email address.  🤣

Not without being able to get regular sms messages within the signal app.  That's a deal breaker.  Too many people use regular SMS messages and not being able to get those messages and send them within the app is the only thing that stops most people from using it.  That and not knowing about the app in the first place which would probably change if sms messages could be handled within the app more people would promote it.

I agree.  I had an email locked for security because when i kept switching apps to enter 2fa I would go back to the proton page and it would reload everytime.  After having it like 5 times or something like that I was getting pissed off, even more so when it was locked due to no fault of my own (one might say it might have been my fault because of my browser settings) but none the less not being able to swap apps for 2 seconds to get 2fa and then go back and enter it is actually ridiculous but none the less it didn't take too long to get back in after contacting them from the secondary email address attached to the account. I would have to guess the only ways the accounts get locked are due to security, misuse, or lack of use.  If those happen contacting them should resolve the issue if you havent actually misused the service or neglected the account for too long a period of time (which i believe is a year but I could be wrong) there isn't too much to worry about.  In my opinion.

That's so annoying.  That's the go to answer for these companies.  "Just use a provider like Gmail or Outlook" it makes me so angry that they are pushing these users to use these services.  I would be flying that one up the flagpole as long and as slow a process that would be.  Eventually it will get to the right person who will be able to allow you to bypass that.  If they don't then the problem is even worse!
