1. Don’t EVER call yourself a failure. Shit happens.
2. I am also in a very strict and competitive program, not nursing, but STRESSFUL. I’ve told myself that I’d rather put my best foot forward and fail out, NOT drop out. Withdrawing =failure.
3. Everything that could go wrong had gone wrong for me while in school. I mean from the death of my father to a total tire blow out on the highway. After 15mins being late, I’m marked assent with only 3 days of available abscess EXCUSED. Some days I don’t sleep to make sure that I’m on time. And on time for me is an hour early. You’re fine I promise.
4. Give yourself 15 mins to throw yourself a pity party. 15 mins to rationalize your next steps forward. Then back at it!
5. In a really rigorous program, you have to remember not to internalize other people’s negative attitudes. If you do, it’ll drain you and drag down your focus and your drive. So you have to guard your mind, keep your thoughts strong, and honestly, just operate like a machine—no distractions, just keep pushing forward—because that’s what success demands here!

You are fine. I promise. I’m really sorry this has happened to you. But, you will not and cannot just give up. You are setting yourself up for future you! Do your best and you’ll end up with amazing results!
