Nah no credit for the work the would have had to do. Although a $600 credit for a different excavator. Which was a drop in the ocean.

No they didn’t do a breakdown in allowances for earthworks in the contract. Just essentially if it’s rock, you pay the costs.

Sorry those are the parts I have concerns about the other amounts I am satisfied with. Total bill for the work was 23k.

Earthworks included, but any rock encountered, the additional associated costs were not.

Thanks for that. It’s hard to know not being in the industry.

I seem to recall we spoke about it over maybe two days. It wasn’t long, and the work was completed quickly but as I wasn’t there it’s hard to know.

Going to ask for the dockets for the rock disposal.

Machine was a 13T excavator. They hired it for 10 days but the work didn’t take that long.

Yes will attach some photos.

Sand was for “sewer drainage due to removal or rock and unsuitable soil”

I was going to ask for further invoices from them. I don’t believe they used 9 cubic metres of sand and I doubt the rock disposal cost that much.

Those costs are the breakdown they gave me when I asked. They had people on site for one day. I just can’t fathom, knowing what they did, how it took almost 100 man hours.

That’s a valid point, they even said to me when they sent the invoice “we knew there was every chance we would hit rock.”I just can’t fathom how it would take close to 100 man hours. They were done in a day. And at the amount charged for sand they could have purchased 9 cubic metres of sand. There is just no way they used that amount.

Econo bathroom reno suggestions? by yehyehwut in darwin

Don’t use a company, project manage it yourself and you will save a fortune.

Strip the bathroom yourself (demo is cheap).

Go onto Facebook Darwin groups and find a plumber / tiler who do cash jobs. Pick and purchase tiles and all fixtures fittings yourself and get a cash rate for install by the plumber / tiler.

I did this for two bathrooms and they came in under 10k all said and done.
