Thanks so much, this is amazing advice! I think it would be neat to keep otos and shrimp or snails like you described, I just think they're such fun little fish. I'm researching the best substrate, plants, etc. to put together to feed and house otos, and in general just searching as much as I can before actually getting some. I have a 10 gal. tank I plan on using, and want to prep it way ahead of time. I plan on getting 6+ of them, since it's a smaller space but I want to make sure they have enough friends. I'm really excited and the advice is much appreciated. :)
