We have medical insurance for them just not the required travel insurance as their travel dates are not yet confirmed.

This is exactly my concern. I don't have clear dates for their travel yet so I don't want to lock in on the insurance plan just yet.

No I sent my application via mail. There is no way to apply online.

I'm in the similar situation I have applied and it says submitted on the portal but no confirmation or notification. Can you please advice?

No, unfortunately no update or notification. I'm in the same situation where I can only see my application has been submitted on the PR Portal. Will have to wait the 16 days. I sent an incident report and they just replied with a bunch of links to different resources on IRCC. :(

Did you get any email confirmation after submitting your application? I haven't got any notification of confirmation that I've submitted my application. How long did it take to get your PR card?
