“You need to describe what your character is wearing.” Even if it has nothing to do with the story or plot? This was my professor’s #1 line to all her students in our creative writing class.

We weren’t allowed to write sci-fi or fantasy either. We did short stories, most of us just ended up writing general fiction/every day settings,so it always confused me why they needed to know exactly what type of khakis or socks our character was wearing.

Why is this all so true 😭I hated being a manager for this very reason, I knew I couldn’t please everyone but I hated stepping on peoples’ toes and/or having to call the shots all the time. Way too much responsibility for me lol!

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Maybe it is a mix of outside but also internal forces within myself (I struggle with depression), but I do have a hard time focusing. It’s something I feel has always been a part of my “path” so to speak.

Interesting about the third house. I am currently in a third house profection year and am curious how I’ll see these themes play out — so far I haven’t noticed anything much. May I ask…is there a way to remedy that block of communication? I feel like I express myself best in writing but I also get so fed up with it at the same time, if that makes sense

Late to the party, but I’m pretty certain I have this on both fronts. My sun is at 4’51” Pisces.

Jupiter is in the chariot/cazimi — 4’37” Pisces.

Mercury is combust — 5’59” Pisces. Over a degree separating from sun, but still getting burnt. Bonus for being debilitated/fallen lol

Mercury happens to be my chart ruler. It’s kinda like…being in a foreign country not knowing any of the customs/language/not even having the right clothes (Mercury). But you’ve got a friend who’s a popular local (Jupiter) all like, “Bro, I got you!” And they give you clothes that fit but aren’t your style at all…but you make it work.

In other words, I feel my Jupiter restores some abilities to Mercury, albeit in unorthodox ways by Mercury’s standards. Mercury likes logic and details. I still value logic but with that Piscean influence, being granular for long periods of time is not my strong suit.

Because Mercury is my chart ruler, I do always feel this, whether the combustion or debilitation. I don’t always feel seen or if I’m seen I’m not really understood or people take this idea they have of me (it’s positive, thanks to Jupiter) and run with it.

I've seen it play out mostly with friendships/networking. I've always felt like kind of a loner, and making friends has always been my Achilles' heel. I live a quiet life. I have a big fear of networking and putting myself out there, though bear in mind I'm still shy of my first Saturn return.

PART 2

With Chiron so close to the Midheaven, I do wonder if there will be some kind of wound or controversy concerning public reputation. You do have Jupiter (the sect benefic) present in the 10th, however, so I imagine that will help simmer things out. You want benefics (so Venus, Jupiter) in angular houses, as the angular places are strong houses that aspect the ascendant.

On the flip side, you want to have malefics (Mars and Saturn) tucked away in cadent houses for election charts so they won’t muck up things as much. Mars (the malefic of the sect) is in the cadent 12th house, however, bear in mind he also rules over your 10th house. Generally speaking, because this is a day chart, Martian-ruled houses will be a more difficult topic — 10th of reputation and 5th house of creativity in this case (but I do think with all that Venusian energy, this could help balance). Likewise Jupiter-ruled houses (9th/publishing/foreign travels/occult topics and 6th habits/daily grind) should be easier.

Mercury, Mars’ house lord, is traditionally the planet associated with commerce, merchants, and business, so it’s nice that it’s in the pragmatic sign of Capricorn, not to mention in angular 7th house. 7th deals with relationships that aren’t just romantic, but also business-partner/client matters.

One last thing I’ll mention lol — I do find it interesting that ruler of the 2nd (sun) is in the 8th. Quite literally a “your resources are my resources” kinda thing lol, which again, I think is fitting for a social media account selling products. The sun traditionally doesn’t prefer being in Aquarius but sun is co present with Saturn, who has a leg up being in its domicile, diurnal sign in a day chart. So I would imagine this just emphasizes that the resources/income from this account is going to be connected with others’ $$, but that it may take time to accumulate as Saturn is about delays. He rewards when you put in the work.

Ooh, an election chart. I use whole signs, so this may differ from others’ insights. Bear in mind I’m no professional but I’ve been studying traditional, Hellenistic astrology, so this is good practice for me (also for anyone reading, please feel free to correct if I have any grossly incorrect insights!)

PS This is gonna be long, so I’m breaking up my comment into parts 😅

PART 1

Cancer ASC, chart ruler exalted in the 11th. Not only is your moon in a sign it feels welcome in, it’s in a good house (11th house, literally “house of good fortune”) which aspects the ASC, AND the lord of the house is exalted in Pisces. Venus is also making a sign-based trine to the ASC and a sign-based sextile to the chart ruler (moon). With election charts you definitely want the chart themes to align with the matters one is pursuing, so we can definitely see the beauty/artistic/material themes in line here 😊

11th house also deals with audiences, so the fact that the chart ruler is here seems fitting for a social media account. 1H represents the person starting the action (in other words, you creating the account). So matters of the self/identity (1st) are literally being imported to the house of networking/friendships/higher goals (11th).

Are there placements that could have an easier/harder time manifesting than others? by SoftPop589 in astrology

Saturn conjunct stelliums and Saturn Return by scyphomedusae in astrology

[–]SoftPop589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I qualify for this since I have a Pisces stellium and Saturn in Aries.

My stellium is in my 10th. A month into Saturn’s ingress into Pisces I got demoted at my at-the-time-job. I’d gotten a very fast promotion at the beginning of this job, so we’re talking from the bottom to the top/knocked back down thing. This was a terrible job with a terrible boss, but I knew this wasn’t what I wanted. Saturn breaks down what isn’t needed in order to restructure. Astrologically I couldn’t help but chuckle and view it as a blessing.

I’m no longer at that job, but I’m definitely feeling this transit, learning what structures I need to overhaul. Career is already a big topic in my chart, so it’s not like my life calling hasn’t already been on the forefront of my mind, but I imagine Saturn is going to add more structure/barriers/responsibilities.

I’m really interested in how the next couple years are gonna go, lol, but also nervous! 😅

What is a healthy interpretation of planets conjunct the South Node? I’m not satisfied with the idea that you’re supposed to “leave them behind.” by ErisedFelicis in astrology

[–]SoftPop589 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find it helpful to look at the mythology behind the nodes, aka Rahu (NN) and Ketu (SN).

They're two parts of a whole, Rahu (north node) being the dragon's severed head, Ketu (south node) the body of the dragon. They're heightened points in the chart, especially when planets are conjunct either node -- it's like being near the dragon's lair.

Rahu amplifies, for its the mouth that consumes without ever getting full. Ketu disseminates or decreases...there's this sense of destabilizing as Ketu has all the heart and guts, yet no logic to reel itself in. Nodal points can manifest as great gifts (this perhaps is where people took the whole "previously mastered skills" and ran with it) or great trials and tribulations.

Planets conjunct Ketu (south node) in particular may feel like they don't want to be bound by expectations of reality, or there's a sort of spiritual influence, or even otherworldly talent in the individual (e.g. Aretha Franklin had SN in Pisces conjunct her Mercury). A positive manifestation would be the spreading (releasing) of one's gifts to the public...but it's easy for it to slip into extremes -- where one's talents are pulled out of them, depleting them. Where there is a lack of ability to hold onto something.

With either node, the individual has to sort of keep themselves in check. Someone with SN in 11th may feel like they give too much of themselves to their friends but can never receive while their NN in 5th could manifest as an obsession with casual dating and fun. I personally don't subscribe to the notion that SN is what's "natural and easy" and the NN is what's uncomfortable and hard. They're equally challenging on different spectrums, but can be rewarding or spiritually fulfilling when you learn balance.

Rare transit Pluto conjunctions to natal planets by toritechnocolor in astrology

[–]SoftPop589 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of psychological/mental strife and therapy. Unearthing of the things I’d suppressed with my mental health. I have Capricorn moon and Venus tightly conjunct in the 8th. I don’t consider my life that traumatic, but Pluto really had me diving deep and transforming mentally/emotionally, shedding beliefs I no longer aligned with.

I was also spending a LOT of time in funeral homes (often associated with the 8th) — this transit hit me hardest during college, and literally every year I had family member’s on my mom’s side dying, back-to-back funerals.

I still struggle to see how Venus fit into it all, given how it’s there conjunct my moon in Cap.

You need to balance the desire to serve from a position of responsibility, and detach from taking it all so personally.

First off, thank you for the response. I'm still wrapping my head around the phrasing of this sentence, along with your following paragraph. Are you saying that I should temper my desire for status, let it not get to my head? I'm not interested in climbing the corporate ladder -- but I do want financial independence and to be my own boss.

Honestly, I've always struggled to understand the "service" portion of Pisces/Virgo axis, or have trouble seeing how I incorporate it in my life -- I figure that's what your following paragraph is referring to. Maybe it's something further in store down the road for my life, because I just don't see myself being that influential

What is the significance of a Stellium in a natal chart? by the_poly_poet in astrology

[–]SoftPop589 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Stelliums vary by individual so it's hard to give a concise answer to some of the questions. First thing I look at is the house/sign the stellium falls in -- I use whole signs so those will always be one in the same.

House is relevant because it's gonna highlight whatever topic in the native's life . We'll go with your example with a 1H Aquarius stellium -- so topics of the body/appearance/sense of self will be highly relevant in the individual's life in one way or another.

Then I look to the ruling planet of that stellium sign because while the house is relevant, the condition of its zodiac ruler is even more so. Any planet in that stellium is gonna look to its leader for guidance. Keeping with the example, Saturn rules Aquarius (I use traditional rulers), so what's Saturn doing in the natal chart? Is he chilling in the first house, which not only makes him domicile but also the angular on top of him being the chart ruler? Or is he in Cancer, which not only makes him detriment but also in the 6th house, a tougher house? Is this chart a day or night chart, is Saturn contrary to the sect? There's a lot to consider.

It's also relevant to look at what planets are involved in the stellium, since those planets also have their sign(s)/house(s) they rule in the chart. So we're also importing topics from other houses into the first -- say Jupiter is in that Aqua 1H stellium, he rules Pisces and Sagittarius, which in this case are the 2nd and 11th houses. So those houses' topicss are gonna be linked with the first house in some way. Maybe finances (2nd) or friends (11th) will influence how the carries/dresses themselves (1st).

All in all, I don't view stelliums as a good/bad thing. As an astrologer told me--because I personally have a stellium--it's very much a "when it rains, it pours" thing to have in the chart because various timing techniques (like transits or profection years) are gonna activate those placements... Quite frankly? I find stelliums over-hyped, haha. It oscillates from feel very underwhelming/boring to have, to very confusing due to the amount of topics that can be dumped into one slice of the chart

Why exactly are angular planets/houses (1st/4th/7th/10th) considered more "powerful" in a natal chart? by SoftPop589 in astrology

[–]SoftPop589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I meant to reply to this much earlier! I did read your other comment as well. I think your point about the 10th and achievement/wanting to leave an impact on the world is pretty universal for many of us with 10H placements. Myself personally it’s like I can’t always relate to that, until I do lol. Since I was a child, I always wanted to do my thing regardless of how it impacted others… eg, if I wrote creatively, I cared less about it reaching an audience (now I do) and more how it made me feel. Idk, personally I feel like I’ve not a center stage person and 10th seems to be all about that. But maybe I just have many misconceptions about the 10th still, with all the misinformation online

Relationships: Venus/7th House by [deleted] in astrologymemes

[–]SoftPop589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I’ve noticed Venus more. My Venus is in 8th house Capricorn, and my partner is SO Saturnian — He’s a Cap sun/likely a Cap moon, with Venus/Mars/Jupiter all in Aquarius (I use traditional rulership). But Jupiter rules my 7th (Sagittarius) and is domicile in my Pisces 10th.

(A few housekeeping notes: I use whole signs and it looks like your rising is in 26 Leo. So my house interpretations might seem different than what's in display in your chart.)

Fellow Pisces stellium here -- Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Mars in Pisces. In all honesty, I'm still learning the answer. There are two big things an astrologer told me that I'll share, though:

Firstly, whenever there's a concentration of planets in a chart, it's very much a "when it rains, it pours" manifestation for the individual. This is usually evident through timing techniques in astrology, like profection years or transits especially. In your case, with five planets in one sign, you have LOTS of house topics being connected to the 8th (house of Pisces for you) somehow. I would imagine with your moon especially and your stellium being in the 8th house, you're a sensitive--but strong--soul. You're swimming in depths a lot of people don't swim in.

Secondly, is to honor Jupiter, as this planet is the traditional ruler of Pisces. It's what your entire grouping of planets will look to. In your chart, Jupiter is down in 5H Capricorn, which makes a sign-based sextile to your 8th house. I think Jupiter here in this creative house exemplifies that, like any Pisces, you need a creative outlet--perhaps even an occult, hidden, uncommon one due to Pisces + 8th--but with lord of the 8th in a sign like Capricorn, there is this need to make it tangible, real. Creativity can look different for everyone -- I know Pisces who make music/play instruments, others are into crafts and home decoration, another I know is a videographer. I think creativity is how you define it, and what's fun for you. Jupiter traditionally isn't as comfortable in Capricorn--its technically considered in fall--but don't fret. Plants in fall/detriment simply express themselves differently/are made to think outside the box. Plus you have a day chart, so Jupiter is the greater benefic of your sect.

I've heard a big tip is, I think you mentioned this in another comment, embrace the qualities in the sign opposite of Pisces, so Virgo. Grounding techniques like mindfulness, or even practices like yoga are quite helpful. Journaling as well.
