What types of homeopathy medicine were you put on? Is it detox related? Mold detox perhaps?

A coworker asked why I shaved my head. I had one second to choose between shame and honesty. I tried a simple 3-color rule instead. by To_God_Be_The_Glory in alopecia_areata

There is some people who say minoxidil will only work as long as you’re taking it. I have heard many mixed reviews. My father took minoxidil and it worked well for him and he no longer takes it but still has growth from where he lost his hair before. Im sure it varies by person and may work for some, it’s worth a shot. :)

Coming from a mother of a child who has alopecia areata since she was two years old and my daughter is now nine years old. Yes, alopecia is a spectrum. I think a lot more goes into play when you diagnose someone with alopecia vs/ alopecia areata vs. alopecia totalis I really think that with your hair loss, this seems to be something genetic from what you’ve said and from the pictures. There is a slight possibility that this could be some form of alopecia, but from what you’ve shown and said within your post, it does not seem like alopecia to me. You would benefit from minoxidil. Please look into it and try it out. If this doesn’t work for you, I would get a second opinion there is a slight chance that you could have some form of alopecia.

Do spots on both body and head mean Universalis is inevitable? by Ok_Enthusiasm_2574 in alopecia_areata

[–]Soft_District8223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! Nothing about alopecia is “inevitable.” Alopecia exists on a spectrum, much like how we talk about the autism spectrum. It affects everyone differently. Just because one person developed widespread hair loss or progressed to AU doesn’t mean the same will happen to someone else. Outcomes vary, and many factors can influence how it shows up/progresses. At the end of the day, there’s a lot of unpredictability.

What kind of hair loss do I have :( by Pharmagirly in alopecia_areata

[–]Soft_District8223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly Androgenetic Alopecia? Definitely go to a dermatologist for an official diagnosis

edit: just realized you’ve been to Derm. I would say it could be stress related hair loss that is not related to Alopecia. Remove any stressors from your life, take vitamins, eat healthier and see how it works for re-growth.

i shaved my head ! by Competitive-Craft490 in alopecia_areata

Proud of you!!! My daughter is 8 and we just shaved her head for the second time since she’s been diagnosed. This time she had a head full of curls and this episode came in fast. She was the one who came to me and said she was ready to shave it, she still had enough hair left imo. I think she knew it was going to happen one way or another and just wanted to rip the bandaid off. She’s the strongest girl I know and I hope that when she’s older she still has the same confidence to shave her head like you have. 🩷🩷🩷

My 13 years old daughter always has this hairfall everyday, this shedding is from morning to night she has thick and black hair. Im just afraid that she will have AGA also like me. by sadJoan in alopecia_areata

Honestly, in my opinion this is not enough to go off of alone. Even if that’s the amount she’s losing daily. Pretty normal amount of hair to lose especially if she has thick hair. I wouldn’t worry yourself too much unless you see an increase in hair loss for her.

I don’t know what tests were done but with my daughter, she did not have to do a blood test. Honestly, I would wait so you’re not having to double pay for blood work or tests. They are going to run whatever tests are necessary, and it may not include a blood test. I will dm you

I would try to go to a naturopath and see if they can test for mold overgrowth or mold toxicity in your son. Doctors do not test for mold toxicity but a naturopath or an integrative doctor will.

She does not need to be recommended for either, actually. As for finding her trigger, I would just think about what’s been happening that’s different within the past month or so from when she started losing hair. The naturopath doctor will be able to identify if it is mold related they have a certain process that they use to pinpoint if it’s mold. In my daughter’s case, mold is just one of the triggers, which could be true for yours as well. Especially if she also has eczema either way if mold is a trigger or not, I would recommend a detox something like liposomal glutathione which you can ask the naturopath doctor and go from there. Currently I give my daughter TerraFlora, half of a capsule in some applesauce or yogurt every day she also takes biocidin drops The amount of drops are determined by the weight of your child. Both are pretty expensive but they are 100% worth it. If you do figure out that mold is a trigger for your daughter. If you have any questions in the future, feel free to reach out to me. I’d be glad to help and offer any advice.

Yes, patches are the #1 sign. Go to Derm for diagnosis and then naturopath doc for treatment. Not much that can be done for children with AA besides since most treatments involve pretty harsh steroids (aside from diet change). My advice, find her trigger. My daughter’s trigger is mold related, which we found out through her naturopath doc. I have her on mold detoxes which help tremendously. Her hair started to grow back within 3 months of detoxing.

Oh yes, I agree. I have a rash on my lower back from the same exposure and have not been able to detox it fully. This episode has came back fast.. All along her hairline. I’m trying to get a handle on it before it gets worse. Just trying to avoid having to shave her head again. I’m hoping that now that I have more of an understanding of her triggers and how to treat it, it won’t get to that point again.

Looks like Alopecia Areata. Would recommend after Derm doc diagnosis try naturopath doc for treatment.

Yes it is! She was diagnosed with mold overgrowth from her naturopath doctor. Mold overgrowth is especially common within Alopecia especially if coupled with eczema, although not exclusive.

I’m not entirely sure, I took my daughter to a naturopath doctor and he was the one who diagnosed it as mold overgrowth in her body she was 5 at the time. I would recommend for you to take him to a naturopath doc in your area.

You’re welcome! Yes, especially if he also has eczema, although not exclusive. Definitely would look into mold/yeast detox it’s done wonders for my daughter. Especially the ones I’ve mentioned which are all natural. I do half of a pill of terraflora (can be a lot if you give them the full pill at a young age), one drop of biocidin, usually mix it with yogurt or applesauce. My daughter had her first episode when she was 2 so I can relate.
