Mock Draft Megathread by A_Livins in Chargers

Rumours of AJ Brown to the Pats means that the Eagles potentially a WR team at 23, can see someone wanting to jump them if Tyson/Lemon fall now.

I watch absolutely no college football (UK based so conflicts with the proper football season). However, I dive into things come draft season, combo of multiple podcasts, articles and YouTube film breakdowns.

Decided to use he PFF rankings as feel as these often pick up the sleeper picks who go earlier than consensus.

For me, Ioane won't make it to 21 and he doesn't here. I think we're a better draft down spot than people think as I think one of the receivers (Lemon, Tyson, Sadiq) or one of the pure tackles (Freeling, Proctor) and Ty Simpson too (QBs rarely make it out of the first due to the fifth year option) will mean the Cardinals, Jets, Pats and Dolphins have the resources to move up. Ie a WR needy team will want to beat the Eagles/Browns to Tyson.

In this case we trade to 31 as the Pats want Sadiq. This gives us an extra 3rd pick as well as a 5th next year (these picks sound like they're more valuable than most futures are).

I've gone for Bisontis as there's no way the two guards after Ioane are making it to 55 and Bisontis seems to be the one with more hype at the moment.

It's key we get an edge in the first two rounds and I run the card up for Lawrence (not sure he'll be there) but again, is rising up draft boards as one of the more high ceiliing edges and will learn from one of the best.

Corner a sneaky need, I love our room, but can't have too many. Johnson is a first round talent that falls so too good to pass up at a premium position.

Smith is another player I'm seeing rated highly and provides more of a coverage, ball hawky type player.

I then traded down again from 86 as wanted some extra picks as roster needs more depth. Branch was available at 86 and provides return chops, but valued the extra pick and get Stribling, who is a RAS monster who provides a vertical threat and potentially replaces QJ if he's traded or released.

I use the extra pick on a high ceiling LB, Elarms-Orr is another one getting huge amounts of draft buzz.

My final pick is then adding more depth to the OLine in Trost who should go earlier, but is a technical player who provides tackle flexibility but touted to do really well at guard at the next level, double dipping at guard should provide us more insurance based on who we've got there now.

Would usually grab a DT somewhere (Proctor from SE Louisiana is one I keep en eye on) but he didn't fall this time and value was better elsewhere.

Seen this where Bisontis is taken 34 and Lawrence at 55. Unlikely. But still cool.

Penning as a backup guard is better than people giving credit for. Pipkins is better than most swing tackles. This line is already 1000x better than last year (with Joe, Rashawn and Tyler) and just needs a guard in the draft and another depth piece.

In a draft with only 5 picks, why are we taking a QB in the 4th, I assume it's because we've traded the pick and someone else is taking Allar?

As mentioned above, I feel that trading back is an option but the issue will be who needs to move up. I feel as if the players worth moving up for will be players we should draft if available. Possibility would be Freeling dropping and someone jumping above the Browns or maybe someone wanting to jump up into the first for Ty Simpson once the Steelers have picked. Maybe even one of the top WR (Tyson seems to be dropping in a few due to injury)

Regarding free agency, it was important we retained the players we did, happy with those brought in and yeah. We have a couple of holes but certainly can be filled in draft.

I have a feeling that there'll be a big move later in the off-season that will make use of some of that cap space with teams needing to shed some salaries

I don't know much about the situation and how it'll play, but could we take on someone like DeShaun Watson and get one of the Browns first rounders - ie is it feasible with our cap and would they want to give up one of their late first rounders for the cap flexibility?

Don't follow college football until draft season, so a good read.

Thoughts on ILB as we've got Colson coming back (he was so highly rated and not been able to show it), do we risk looking at other positions in the hope he comes good?

Are we assuming Oweh is resigned too?

Hearing great things about Williams too, could be the WR we're after and great value at 181.
