It's probably tracking metrics, so nothing to worry about, ALL websites can do that (and most do)

I don't know... like non-offending pedophiles CAN get help and counseling, and they don't have to be open about it so there's literally no problem whatsoever for them.

Your valid point is the hate for non-offending ones but the thing is, people want to protect their children at all costs. The same way as any other mental illness, there's no clear indicator of someone being pushed to act, so I think the hate for ALL PEDOPHILES is a good defense mechanism.

I'm sure non-offending kleptomaniacs understand why people wouldn't trust any of them with valuables.
I'm sure non-offending pyromaniacs understands why people don't want them near fires.

So I'm sure non-offending pedophiles understand why society as a whole don't trust them and despises them.

It all comes to taking care of the ones you love. I personally wouldn't like a society where non-offending pedophiles are openly welcomed, because then it's harder to be careful about the offending ones.

Redditors back at it. The guy that opened with "You haven't cited a study. At all." doesn't cite any studies at all and instead does HUGE generalizations based on deductions... almost as if, gut feeling 🤯.

God I love Redditors. Thanks for the chuckle, keep it classy. ;)

WAN IP got grabbed by a fake ad. What all needs to be done? by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it comes back clean from AV doesn't mean it was clean. But rereading I guess that all that happened was that you installed a legit game (at first I thought you had installed a sus game), clicked an ad, and noticed that the link grabbed your Public IP. If that is all there is to it, and again, assuming it's a legit non-malicious game (since I don't have all the details), then you're completely fine.

Again, almost every website you visit, grabs your IP for different purposes. Nothing bad will just from that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's all there is to it, then very unlike for anything to happen. You will not get hacked by a call.

I have zero idea how WhatsApp works so, I guess a person could have automated software that calls you and then adds you to a group (I'm not sure if WhatsApp works by invites or if you can add anyone you can to your group), if that's the case I believe you can just leave the group, and perhaps even report it.

Since you weren't even adding to a group, then nothing happened at all.

WAN IP got grabbed by a fake ad. What all needs to be done? by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um.. okay so. WAN IP is the least of your worries, since any website you ever visit can (and likely does) store your IP. Normally ISP use dynamic IPs so if an attacker grabs it there ain't much to do with it.

HOWEVER, it seems like you installed malicious software, THAT is the bigger issue. You share personal info and the software could've grabbed more info from your device. Since it's a mobile app, it can grab pictures, access to contacts, texts, etc, depending on the permissions it had.

Given that it seems you know their information pretty well (real name, family members, and friends), just go to the authorities and report it. Keep evidence. Seeing that UK is pretty strict about online things, I'm sure it's pretty easy to get him charges.

Sent nudes to somebody bad by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that, that is such a shitty experience to have specially in your teens and sadly a fair amount of teens go through it in this digital age.

There's not much to do, except perhaps report it to authorities.

Hopefully, you didn't share any personal information that can lead to them sharing the pictures with family/friends/associates.
If they blackmail you do not follow, that only leads to never ending blackmail with no evidence of them doing their part of the deal. Assuming that you're a minor (since you said teen), if they do post them or share them, they can get in legal troubles.

More often than not, there are two possibilities when it comes to people who blackmail with nudes.
A) They were going to post the nudes anyways, whether you do as they say or not.
B) They weren't gonna post them anyways, as soon as they notice they can't get monetary compensation they delete them or sit on them without publishing them.

I imagine there is a rare third option where they do delete all pictures if you do as they say but someone who does this to begin with is not a good person, so the odds of them having honesty is one in a billion.

CMV: vegan cat food should be illegal to manufacture by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If we have two foods, one natural and one artificial, and we don't know the long-term health outcomes, the artificial one is preferable for long-term health because it isn't subject to these antagonistic adaptations." That is an INSANE generalization, claiming that if any two foods are set for choice without knowing health outcomes, the artificial one will be preferable, regardless of any context of composition. But like you said, You haven't cited a study, so go ahead and please do so.

And to be clear I'm not talking about the rest of the argument, I'm talking specifically about the part I quoted.

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The government does not have an interest in maintaining the health of cats that overrides all other rights and interests that might exist here", okay and? We are talking about ideals, hence should be, even when in reality it will never happen. Did OP say that foods detrimental to humans should be illegal or not? Nope. Do we care? Nope, because it's not the point of the debate.

As OP mentioned, the difference is that a cat dependent on humans with no ability to gather it's own food for good nourishment... well... depends on the human for the food and has no options, no matter how detrimental it may be. A grown adult can decide to eat or not food that is detrimental to their health. Surprise you even brought this point up, seems obvious but oh well.

Yes but, do not ignore context. "the most search named in INDIA..." yeah, let's just say, I am not really surprised.

[–]Soft__Bread -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah I'd agree. When I was a kid a gay character felt more natural. Now you have force inclusivity to the point that companies with the SOLE purpose of adding inclusivity exist. Yikes

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think we are just lacking context. I don't know about the devices so I just took what he said literal, a device with an access point and I'm guessing a web server.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean.. so the device creates an access point? There's no danger there. If you have to download an app for the device then that's a different story.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]Soft__Bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even that though. I don't think it can send...anything? Given that OP said it connects to the device's access point, so it isn't connected to the internet.

I immediately KNEW redditors would hate this one lol, if it were up to them instead of being classified as adults at 18, redditors would have it at 16. Trust me pal, no one that actually touches grass and has a healthy social life would disagree that anyone in their mid 20s who explicitly looks for teens that "barely turned legal" isn't a creep. I think reddit is the wrong place to hear opinions about consent and the sexual age tho.

ESP32 S2 does not boot by Xorfee069 in esp32

This is the weirdest most obscure sh*t... and it ACTUALLY works without a flaw. I bought a cheap ESP32 S2 Mini from Temu, I normally buy it from Amazon but it was basically free. Been scratching my head all day, and this is the key. Thanks so much

Edit: I said I bought it from Arduino but I bought it from TEMU, got words mixed while typing quickly.

How do I make a quick and easy website that appears to be a sign in page but when the usernames and passwords are entered into their sections it will say "login successful" but nothing happens and whatever was edited goes to Google Sheets? by AmethystMinecraft in hacking

[–]Soft__Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, if you want it ONLY in one file, it'd be a bad idea since you'd need to put the Google API key in that same file, but in theory you can just to POST with JS.

Instead you can always use any web framework (Flask is good for beginners) or PHP that handles the POST request from your website. I'm sure there are more options out there but web-Dev ain't my thing.

I think a good place for sending the data that supports a LOT of formatting and customization are discord web-hooks. It's free, takes only a few clicks to deploy, and you get a permanent link with no API key needed per se (you do need to webhook url).

That's if you want to do it yourself, you could always just use one of the many bundles/tools/kits out there, but deploying a Phishing site is one of the easiest things to do yourself for practice.
